I dreamed last night that I was in France again. I had forgotten something very important but Sadhbh saved me. No idea what it was but she came through! And all sorts of people who were supposedly my cousins were there preventing me from getting to my landlady (I could see her, I just couldn't get through the crowd) and the dream just got stranger from there.
It is true, though, that Sadhbh makes much better fish and chips than I do. My kids loved hers . . . I think the problem is that I try to bake mine and I'm sorry, some things just need to be fried. I can even tell you -- unless she's changed it -- where Sadhbh keeps her deep fryer.
Time to renew all our passports, win the lottery and go back to SW France. :) Who's joining me?

I would LOVE to go to France
It would be great to meet Sadhbh. I'd also love to taste her fish & chips. Another must would be to visit the famous attic. I wonder if she'd let me go through her books (maybe borrow some). One can always dream.

Hmm...
I would like to visit France and the infamous attic as well.

I'm LOL b/c only in this community
would people want to go to France to see an attic!! For its books! Other communities, I'm sure, are talking about the historical places to visit, the arty places to visit, the feel of sitting in a cafe . . . we just want to fry up fish and chips and visit the attic! I will say, though, that if the weather is good enough, Sadhbh has a lovely hillside we could set blankets and/or chairs on and enjoy the outdoors while we read . . . so, see the attic, pick out some books, set ourselves up outside.

how did you know I'd made fish and chips last night for dinner (actually DH and DB had mussels and chips)
and
the chip pan is still relatively near where it was (I make the chips to
the right of the sink now - I may still have been trying to make them
behind the fridge when you were here, but DB has his espresso maker
there now)
the key to crispy fries (even making them with frozen
ones) is to plunge them in hot oil then take them out and let the oil
reheat to optimum temperature before putting them in to cook and then
doing them in two goes, letting them drain well on kitchen paper
between the two
Now I'm still laughing because Penni has given you all the
impression I'm a great cook, when I'm probably the laziest cook I know
Sitting
here wondering what to give them for dinner this evening, I think I'll
do baked fish with rice and pan veggies - the kids won't like it but
then they had chips last night, they can't expect to have nice =
unhealthy food every night

Well Penni
I would want to do all the things you mentioned also, but visiting the attic is in the top 2. Plus she has a great place to relax and read. I think it would be fasinating to watch Sadhbh read.
Sadhbh - I wouldn't expect you to cook, except for the fish and chips Penni mentioned. And don't sell yourself short, your probably a great cook. At least the dinner menus you mention in your blogs occasionally sound terrific to me.
