What do you like to do when you finish a book? Do you like to blog it immediately? Do you prefer to think about it? Do you like talking to other people about a book before you blog it or review it?
I guess it depends on the book for me. Sometimes I just like to blog a book right then and there while something is fresh on my mind. Other times, I like to think about what I just read. Sometimes talking with another reader helps me crystallize my thoughts. A great read can go either way. Sometimes a blog or review just writes itself and othertimes my greatest reads take time to digest before I can even sound coherent.
Do you think there is a difference between a blog and a book review? I have seen some blogs on the internet that would be more accurately called reviews. They read like something you see in the newspaper book section. I have seen reviews on places like Amazon that read more like something you would say to a friend but are not really reviews. I like both formats. I like blogs because I feel they are a good place to work through ideas sometimes. Also, I do like blogs because they give me a chance to be myself a bit, especially in a community that knows me. A book review I think needs to be a bit more objective, going beyond personal taste to looking inside the book itself. In a blog, it's maybe more important to indicate when a book falls outside of a reader's normal reading pattern because people know you a bit more and are going to ask what in the world you are doing reading such and such.
What are your thoughts?

I usually try to blog them
I usually try to blog them right away but since I was without a computer for a week I read 20 books and have not yet finished blogging them. And the more I read the more I have to blog and I am really getting behind.

20 books behind on blogging,
20 books behind on blogging, oh my? I am really behind on reading but but finally my blogs have caught up with my reads...but maybe only for today. I think maybe I getmore read if I read a couple and then blog maybe 3 or so together. I hope more this weekend since I am already halfway through 2 books and iti s only Friday.

I try
I try to keep up with my blogging, but sometimes other things have to take presedence. You know, like work, deadlines, food... Liek Ellen, I have gotten behind, I then make myself a goal (had to a number of times last year) for every book I read, I must blog at least ??? It helped me get caught up. There is nothing worse than being without the computer.

Write at Once...Wait a Week To Post it
Hi Paisley:
I like to write the review immediately after reading the book. I also try to write all my observations on the book. Most of these observations are background and will not be in my posted blog. Then I like to wait a week or more before I post it. If the book is part of a series, like Maureen Child’s Kings of California, and the first book gives me problems, I will try to read the second book in the series before I finalize the first book’s blog. If a book gives me a problem, I like to post a question or two on my blog that does not mention the book. The answers to these questions can help clarify any misunderstanding I may have with the book. This is a very great help because if you give the author’s name or the book title it is very hard to get objective answers. That author’s fans can be extremely defensive. I have found that if you write a good review, there is a good chance of getting no comments. However, if you write a bad review, you are going to hear from that author’s fans.
Thanks,
Vince

I usually do it right away (or within a day or so)
but I really should save them up so that I don't spend more time on the computer (b/c you know, once I'm on, I have to see what's going on around here and if I just came once a week, well that would be it). Vince's way is a good approach for those of you who do the longer, more complete reviews. I've gotten better (I think) with my short reviews -- which is something I said I'd do this year. With really good books, I'm allowing myself more space to ramble on (although honestly, I could just say, "THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE READ ALL YEAR! GO GET IT!" and probably give as much info as my rambles).

Blogging and reviewing
I like to blog as soon as I read the book. This way the characters and their interactions are fresh in my mind. I give my total overall impression of the book. I do not get into real specifics because I want the reader to have their own opinion. However, I will say if I really hated the book and the reason for it.
Buddy reads
I like doing buddy reads, especially for something like historical mysteries or any type of historical fiction. I had never done one before although in school we had study groups. It helped me think more about the book and feel more comfortable writing about it.
Right now I am trying to not get on the computer so much and spend more time reading over the weekends. I wonder if it will help me to blog in batches a bit. At least it is something new to try.

I like to...
i like to post my review right after I finish reading...or as soon as possible (if i am away from a puter).
I want to do it as soon as possible because i want to do it while its fresh in my mind. And because I dont want to get behind.
I have read some people say that they would rather spend time reading than blogging. I say it only takes about 5-10 minutes, if you do it right away.
My reviews arent that detailed, since I dont want to give too much away for those who havent read the book yet.

Got Books?
Usually I like to blog right
Usually I like to blog right after finishing a book while it is still fresh on my mind unless I finish the book during the night or if my mind is in a jumble and needs to settle before I start typing.

RE: BLOGGING AND REVIEWING
Ususally right away or VERY VERY soon afterward, as I don't want to lose anything. However, I do keep in mind this is NOT my profession and I'm not being paid for it. If there is a choice between blogging or watching me son play softball, softball will win every time. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND ~~ people DO subscribe to "monthly lines" published by Harlequin and DO spend hard-earned quid at the bookstore buying "stand alones", entire "mini-series'", and from lines they don't normally read from ~~ so they count on you and me to give accurate synopsis' of the books.

I've done it both ways .....
In 2006, I used to let the books pile up and then I'd have to catch up ..... and I found I had a harder time writing the reviews because I lost too many details
so in 2007, I thought I'd write them up right after I finished them ... my reviews were better but I read fewer books as I set a rule not to start a new one without first writing the review for the one just finished
for 2008, I'm still following the rule of writing as soon as I finish .... I may not post them right away though ... esp. if they are linked .... those I like to post all at the same time so that they appear close together in the reviews ...

Sometimes if I have a really
Sometimes if I have a really great read, I want to share it right away and let everyone know right away just how wonderful a book is. But, I am going to try very hard for the next couple of weeks to try to read more on the weekends and then blog during the week. Once I turn the computer on, it is easy to get distracted. I wonder if it will help or hurt my catch up reading plans for both the HR and MR lines.
