THE LAPTOP AND I...
The laptop saga continues. This morning it was returned by courier. I hugged it to my bosom, crooned over it like a baby.
The work note from the “tech guys” said “No error found”. That had to be good, didn’t it? Nothing lost. I would have all those emails I hadn’t had time to answer. Get all my addresses back. Retrieve my lost chapter...
Elation remained until I plugged it in and switched it on.
Nothing. It was, in fact, worse than when I’d sent it away. Then it was only the screen that was dead. Now nothing works. So it’s being picked up again tomorrow.
Another week...

How disappointing!
Liz-
Couldn't you access your e-mail from another computer? You are going to have a full mailbox when that laptop gets fixed.

Laptop
Hi Angel
The dh bought himself a laptop last week -- just the excuse he needed -- so I'm accessing mail now; I just can't access the stuff that I downloaded into my own folders. Soooo frustrating.

Liz - if the techies can't find a problem and it works for them
then they could at least burn your files to CDs so you have access to them while they're finding the random hot failure

Absolutely, Angel, although I'm not averse to a new toy myself!
Sabhdh, that's exactly what I'm thinking!

laptops and IT geeks
I can't imagine life without my laptop. LOL
My dh is a geek and it is all his fault. After the birth of my middle child (she has a disability) he bought me a computer. My oldest and youngest child and dh tease me about now being the office computer guru. I have gone through several upgrades of desktops and now have a laptop that I use both at home and at work.
I hope by now you have your laptop back and all is well.
Nancy
Oh, to have an IT geek at my beck and call...
Liz, I so feel your pain. I am inconsolable, fretting and fussing and generally fidgety when my computer is down. It's as if some major party is going on in the world and I'm missing it because I can only find one shoe. Except worse.
I hope the miracle workers wave their wands over your laptop and work their magic on it soon.

the laptop...
...is home.
It's all better, with its memory intact and the tech guys gave it a new keyboard, too (I'd worn the keys blank!) Clearly they were doing their best to make up for last week's mess up. I might send them a book

Hey, if you're like me you can take a lemon and make it into lemonade. Maybe your next female character can link up with a really hot computer-geek-laptop-fixer-upper! Bet you could have fun with that story line. But you better hurry, because if you don't use it, I just might! H'mmm (finger's tapping my brain). LOL!

Nice one...
We can find stories everywhere, right, Amanda? This one is definitely yours!
