You've Got Male Trilogy with Elizabeth Bevarly
Bevarly's writing is described as quirky and funny and her heroes are hot, hot, HOT!! Could we ask for anything more?
I stole this blogpost off her website and thought it was an appropriate jumping off point for a discussion on her You've Got Male series for HQN and insight into her creative process
Elizabeth's top TEN
The top ten things I've learned while on my latest book deadline (and no, I'm still not finished--thanks so much for noticing):
10. Chocolate magically disappears within moments of its arrival in the house.
9, I'm able to hurt myself without even lifting a finger, since atrophied muscles ache as much as active ones do.
8. After a while, cats actually make A LOT of sense.
7. Dreams about blood aren't nearly as scary as they should be.
6. Replacing a balanced dinner with two winter ales can lead to the speedy production of four pages.
5. Any pages written after two bottles of beer on an empty stomach are crap.
4. It's amazing what you can find to make for dinner when you haven't been to the grocery for two weeks.
3. Families complain a lot about what you make for dinner.
2. The month of February ceases to exist.
And the number one thing I've learned from being on my latest book deadline:
Sleep is highly overrated, but a lack thereof means you start talking to lamps.
About the author:

Hello, hello!
Hi, Dream! Hi, everyone! I'm so sorry to just now be showing up! Due to e-mail mix-ups, I just now realized this post was up. (e-mail mix-ups are the story of my life, I'm afraid...)
Thank you for the nice words, Dream.
I honestly don't think too much about the humor in my books--it just sort of shows up. It helps that I come from a pretty funny family, and having a thirteen-year-old with a wicked sense of humor (and much quicker brain than mine, alas) keeps me on my toes.
I do think humor is an essential part of life, though. And you absolutely need to have a sense of humor if you fall in love.
So it makes sense that it would find its way into my books.
Thank you all for having me! I hope there are some readers out there who have been enjoying the OPUS books. I'm VERY excited that they're being reissued, and am particularly looking forward to finally seeing OVERNIGHT MALE in print in June. If I can answer any questions, I'll be happy to do so...

We're so glad you found us!
Oh questions... I'm sure I could come up with a few.
Where did the idea for the series come from?

I can't believe it. I
I can't believe it. I heard about this a while back, finally tracked down a copy through Amazon marketplace . . . and now it's reissued. Meaning I could pick up a copy in any store. At least it'll be easier to get the rest of the series -- the computer geek heroine hooked me firmly.
Though I did find it somewhat odd that she only had one online friend. Most have dozens, if not hundreds.
Isn't that the way it always happens?
But at least you've got it now. :)
Aren't her heroines endearing?

Ideas and such
You know, Dream, there are a lot of times when I can't pinpoint where ideas come from, but for this series, the moment is crystal clear. My then-third grader came home from school one day saying that one of his classmates had claimed that his dad knew how to hack into the computers of the CIA. Since I knew this particular kid's dad worked as a corporate VP, I was reasonably certain he was just yanking my son's chain. I explained this, sent my son off to play, then went back to work on whatever my current novel was.
Then, inevitably, I started wondering, "But what if his dad COULD hack into the computers of the CIA? What if this mild-mannered suburban dad was really an international spy?" That became the genesis for my book JUST LIKE A MAN, which I'd intended to be a stand-alone. But after writing about OPUS for that novel and including some characters who were supposed to just be peripheral, but who became VERY interesting to me, I knew I had to write about it for more. That's what spawned the trilogy.
And Werefan, thanks for going to all that trouble to find the book! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series as much as YOU'VE GOT MALE. You make an excellent point about Avery's lack of friendships. But I think that speaks to her character--even in a pool of potentially millions of friends, she hasn't made any. And then, when she finally does let someone in, it's the worst sort of candidate for friendship.

Cool way to spark an idea!
I love how ideas just come out of silly things like that... what's been the most unusual place you've found an idea?

Ideal origins
That one just may be the most unusual, Dream. But I've gotten ideas from songs, newspaper articles, television commercials, overheard snippets of conversation, you name it. Sometimes it will be some visual that catches my eye. Something will just get caught in my brain, and eventually, my brain begins to weave a story around it. I try to just stay clear and let it happen.
