Today, I got an autographed copy of DANGER AT HER DOOR by Beth Cornelison (thanks, Beth!!!) which I won at the monthly SRS Chat. It got me thinking about how much I love this site and the reasons why. Where else can you get one-on-one with your favorite authors? Where else can you find other people who understand the sheer need to write, like we need to breathe?
I've been astonished by the absolute, unconditional support of the published authors I've met. Their encouragement keeps me going when I feel like I'm banging into walls trying to get my work noticed. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way! The pre-published authors are incredible too. I met my critique partner here. I've met others who are right where I am in my writing career. It's nice to know I'm not alone.
This is such a vibrant, outgoing community. I'm so glad to be a part of it.

I know what you mean. And the very real truth is that many of the authors on here were exactly like you at one time...prepublished, and working hard, and needing encouragement and advice. I know I was one.
I joined e-harlequin when I started writing my first ever novel. I was SUCH a newbie. I asked lots of questions and everyone was very generous and tolerant. I also met my critique partner here, and when I sold my first Romance I swore Trish Wylie to secrecy as I was on holiday and wanted to be home to celebrate on e-harlequin first and foremost. I made her wait a whole week, and then we had the sale party. No one understood what it meant as much as my e-harl buddies.
The fact that so many authors continue to hang out here as well as readers and writers, is because we all know what a great place it is.
Keep writing, and then we'll be able to see your sig line without the PRE!
Cheers,
Donna
