Hello!

I just stumbled across this thread -- someone might have told me!

Have you all seen the fabulous blog on this series created  by the amazing Trish Wylie?  If you are in the least be interested in weddings there is something to fascinate.  Links, ideas for  seasonal weddings, and of course excerpts from the books, loads of pictures, all the background.  And books to win.  The whole set.

And because The Bride's Baby is out now, there are reviews for that one.

Right now the book is also being featured on Jessica Hart's blog -- so if you're interested in having a book dedicated to you, get over there now and take part in my competition.  I don't have the url to hand, but there's a link from my own blog -- link below.

Weddings

Congrats Fiona, Liz, Shirley & Trish. Weddings always create such a lovely feeling. I'm sure your series stories will do the same.

Hugs

The blog

I just popped over to the blog. Isn't it wonderful? Some people are so clever (Trish).

I'm looking forward to this mini-series. I'm sure it will be lovely.

Ditto

I'm dittoing Jennie and Claire. I can't wait to read this series.

What is it about weddings, do you think? I'm one of those strange people who didn't want a wedding (I always was a sucker for the romance of an elopement - blame Georgette Heyer), but I love hearing/reading etc people's wedding stories.

Weddings

Michelle, if I had my wedding to do over I'd have a shorter ceremony, write my own vows (probably snitching bits and pieces from some Celtic and Irish vows I've seen and think are just lovely) and I'd change the reception to a totally relaxed outdoor barbecue.

I wonder what my children will do if they ever get married. I'm thinking an elopement would be really easy on the parents!

Elopement

My daughter always promised me she'd elope (in return for the money a wedding would cost!) but she's marrying a man with a FAMILY.  And he's the first boy of the generation....

So far the dress has taken six months. :)

Liz

The dress

Ah... but is the dress beautiful? Is it to die for? Will her daughters want to wear it?

Do people actually keep their wedding dresses to pass on to the next generation any more?

Jennie - would highly recommend the eloping thing, but if that can't be arranged I agree that laid back and informal are certainly the next best options. But an awful lot of my girlfriends (and my sister) wanted the whole white fairy tale and they loved it. I guess if we were all the same the world would indeed be a very boring place.

My dh and met at a

My dh and met at a contradance (think Pride and Prejudice and the two long lines of dancers, forward and back and weaving around the next couple). We got to know each other going to weekly contradances and through international folk dancing. So, when we got married we wanted all of our friends, but didn't want to spend thousands of dollars. We told our friends to forget presents (we both had apartments--didn't need all the usual shower presents), but come with a dish to pass--we had a potluck dinner. My dh created a master tape of many different types of folk and contra dances and we had a folk dance party. I've already told my daughters we will spend as much on their weddings as we did on our own. Wink

The dress...

It's actually quite simple, Michelle.  Strapless, with a little lace shrug and a gold sash.  It's floorlength, but not "big".  She is having a civil ceremony.  Actually, in Guernsey, it's the norm to have the ceremony at home, but since her mil to be won't have her ex in her house...  Civil is the word I'm hanging onto here Smile

Nancy that sounds just so perfect!

Weddings

Your wedding sounds great, Nancy!

Liz - six months?!  Ah well, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

I grew up dreading the thought of a big wedding. I was a bridesmaid twice as a little girl and both times the bride fainted at the altar! It all filled me with horror. So my husband and I had a very small, private ceremony and a family reception at my mil's house. All very relaxed.

I've changed my mind about weddings now. I still wouldn't want to be the centre of attention myself, but I do love to see a beautiful bride.

Weddings

The dress sounds seriously lovely, Liz. I hope the p-in-law behave themselves for all and sundry and that your daughter has a beautiful day.

Oh, Nancy and Claire - you both sound as if you had wonderful weddings.

Even 25 years later we hear

Even 25 years later we hear from friends that our wedding was so special. The best part is that many easy IFD can be done by any non-dancer--if you can walk sideways you can participate.

A Bride for All Seasons ....

Trish did an excellent job on the blog ... awesome!  ... love all the wedding tips

okay, on the books ... I'm gathering that the story lines of the books are not linked to one another ... A Bride for All Seasons is more of a theme, with each book taking place in a different season?  ....... will there be more books added to this theme next year as there was with the Desert Brides theme?

I adore weddings....

My little girl and I like to watch the wedding channel to check out the gowns and flowers.  She's into the whole princess thing, and I just love the romance of it all.  In fact, I love romance period!

Liz, I just ordered your Her Wish List Bridegroom and look forward to reading it!

Amanda

Thanks for that Amanda!  I watched one of those programmes.  A tiny Japanese girl marrying a guy who could have picked her up in one hand.  The weddding cost over a million dollars and the flowers....

 Crazy, but beautiful.

Liz

...and I loved it!  In fact, I just posted my review.  I have three more of your books in my TBR pile that I'll be getting around to soon.  Smile
