Okay so there are two more days in March than there are in February, but I'm very happy because my reading energy seems to be coming back and although my blog is once again not up to date, I already know I'll exceed my January and February numbers in March
which is good for the challenge, even if it makes DH unhappy
but he doesn't keep up with this blog (too much English
) so we won't tell him and what the eye doesn't see, the heart won't grieve over
How do the rest of you feel about your reading speed and progress? I know there are some people who worry we won't make our goals, but worrying won't get the books read, and if each individual is happy, well happy readers are more encouraging and inspirational so that can only be good for our ultimate goal
Yesterday was a phenomenally good day for me as I got six books read (and three of them were over 350 pages each
) I also went egg hunting with the boys, made roast pork for dinner and got some of the laundry taken care of. The observant ones among you will notice that only the first of those tasks was incompatible with reading
And I stayed in bed late and read a book before breakfast just to keep up the momentum on my day off
Of course now I have the hard part, bringing the blog up to date
Hope the rest of you have a good reading day

I'm the opposite!
I did fabulous at reading in February(43) and January (47), but I seem to have lost my reading ambition or something this month. I've only read 19 books....I anticipate hitting around 25 or 26, but thats a big difference....Anyway....Thats my update.

Whereas I read 70 in January, 70 in February and conservatively
estimate between 85 and 90 for March
but then I'm not trying to write as well

Hehe
I am....I'm about halfway through my Nocturne Bite. I'm hoping to hit the downhill roll soon and not be able to stop writing. My goal is to have it complete by the 31st so its a serious impediment to my reading.

Spring breaks...
I had a niece visit the first week of March--not as much reading was accomplished. Then Holy Week my oldest daughter and her new bf were on spring break visiting--not much reading accomplished. At the end of Holy Week my mom passed on reading has ground to a halt. I have read 16 books this month
Oh well, I'm doing the best I can.

Nancy - my heartfelt condolences on your mom
be good to yourself, I know from experience that it will take you at least a year to start to get over the stress.
And books are a great way of getting away from things mentally to help you sort out your feelings

March's Member of the Month!
(((Nancy))) ..... my heartfelt condolences ...
my heartfelt condolences for your Mom .... yes, this next year will be particularly rough ... I call it the year of firsts, the first Mom's Day without Mom, the first Spring, and on and on ...... reading can be a great help
about March reading .... for the month of March in 2006 and 2007 my reading pace was about the same ... I'm a little behind this March but then I attribute some of that to the fact that I've read six books that are around 300 pages, larger reads than I'm used to .... so I'm feeling pretty good with my reading pace ... (though I'd love to speed read like Sadhbh!)

Hey Katherine - I don't speed read
I've been trying to learn for years but I keep forgetting and going back to the old "one word after another" pace ***sigh***
now if I could speed read, we wouldn't have to worry about meeting the challenge

not as much
Even though March has more days I'm finding I don't read as much as I did I February mind you I did 20 in February and at 15 now so I have 8 days to read 5 books. But today was a throwaway day with no reading accomplished.
Nancy- So sorry to hear about your mom

Nancy...
so sorry about your mom!!
Sadhbh, I'm reading up a storm... I just need to actually blog what I've read. I've finally gotten into a groove. But at least this year I'm keeping track of what I haven't blogged yet so I won't lose out on including them.....

um, no matter what you call your ability to read so quickly, I wish I had half of that ability ...... what I'm truly jealous of is your amazing retention ....
even if I didn't have a day job and could spend all my hours reading, I don't think I could manage what you read .. I'm in awe!

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my dad last June. It does take a long time to get through the stress. Just when I think I've worked through it all, it hits me in the face again. I'll see something that makes me miss him so much. For the first time a couple of weeks ago, my sister, brother, and I sat down and talked about Daddy and finally had a good laugh about some of the stunts he pulled before he died. I think we're finally getting past the grief to the memories, but it takes a good while.
As for my reading, I'm just a slow reader. I am striving for 100 books over the year.

Nancy...
I am so sorry about your mom. I thought of this quote as I was thinking of you.
I'm Gone now, but I'm still very near.
Death can never separate us.
Each time you feel a gentle breeze,
It's my hand caressing your face.
Each time the wind blows,
It carries my voice whispering your name.
When the wind blows your hair ever so slightly,
Think of it as me pushing a few stray hairs back in place.
When you feel a few raindrops fall on your face,
It's me placing soft kisses.
At night look up in the sky and see the stars shining so brightly.
I'm one of those stars and I'm winking at you and smiling with
delight.
For never forget you're the apple of my eye.

Challenge..
I am behind this year, I read over the weekend and have updated my reviews. I hope I will be able to catch up now. I finally found a job, our (personal) economy needs a major boost. I hope things will settle down now and back to normal.
Well I will go off to reading now. Everyone have a great day.

Hello!!
I actually am not holding em' this month. I read all of them on Sunday and Monday. I needed some major stress relief. Reading is always the key. I think I would like to hide in a nice sunny room for a month with everything I need with a ton of books and just be in reading heaven.
Have a good one.

Nice poem
Thank you for sharing the poem--my dad passed 4 1/2 years ago and I was so busy settling affairs, keeping my mother safe (early senile dementia) and packing up, distributing the majority of their household goods that I never really grieved for my dad. Not until about 6 months later and then for the next year or more little things would catch me unaware and I would be crying. But I don't really believe they are just gone. I believe they have found each other again and that at last my mom is where she has wanted to be ever since his death, with him.
I haven't really ended up reading as many books as I had hoped -- but I'm not too far off the pace and I still have a few more days. The sunny room with a pile of books sure sounds sweet right about now...
