It will be a reason to read, as if I need one.

This will be interesting as I have never blogged anywhere.  While looking at Stephanie Bond's site,  a decent author if you haven't read her, I came across a link for the 100,000 Book Challenge.  As I read many books anyway this sounded like a worthwhile place to make a difference doing something I was going to be doing regardless.  Having submitted my review of a book I read yesterday I, for some reason, thought since I hadn't tried blogging before it might be something different to do.  Goodness knows I don't look at my e-mail consistently.  If I am here submitting reviews though I might be able to add things here some.  I average quite a few books a week but will not go back and add all the previously read titles.  Way to many.  My TBR pile is out of hand right now so I have plenty waiting titles though, if I remember to log them here.  Happy reading everyone.Smile

Welcome and happy reading!

Welcome and happy reading!

The great gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap [Hah! It most certainly is not!], it consoles, it distracts, it excites. It gives knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is moral illumination. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick

Welcome to the challenge Blake

Sorry, too big a backlog is no excuse!

Talk to me about backlogs! I've been doing this challenge from the start (in 2006) and have blogged 2105 books Innocentsince
then. Some of those blogs have been a bit succinct and others have been
a little more verbose, and the techies probably hate my name but
daren't say so, because I probably need a server all by myself Laughing and I currently have a backlog of six books which will be ten by the time I get around to blogging again

and BTW I'm not trying to scare you away, just letting you know there's no such thing as too big a backlog Wink

This is a good readaholics meeting place and we're always delighted to welcome a few more

I'm looking forward to seeing what types of books you enjoy

No more excuses, just READ!

Howdy....and welcome to the eHarlequin boards, blake!  I know your time here will be enjoyable (as has mine)..  Reading is somewhat of a new thing for me. Upon finishing the first book I purchased/read, "A Soldier's Promise" (Cheryl Wyatt), I thought I'd give this website some investigation -- and I'm glad I did!

Welcome and we're looking forward to your book count

If you haven't already, I suggest you click on "forums" (above or below here) and from there go to the "Book Challenge" forums. That's where you'll find the how tos and the rules and so on. "The Lobby", just FYI, is where we challengers socialize. Actually, we socialize pretty much wherever we can.

I would like to say that we'd love it if one night while watching tv (if you ever do) go do "book reviews" for your backlog. You could just paste a comment in those that says something like, "Catching up on backlog of over 100 books - no review for this one. NFM" (or however many books it is).The NFM stands for "No Further Message". Some of us use it to let others know that they needn't click on the "more" button. There are a couple of people who put their initials at the end of their reviews and obviously that works, too.

Which reminds me of another suggestion/hint. When you look over to the right to "Add Content" and below that it says "Blog Entry" and under that "Book Review" you need to click on "Book Review" for your books read. That's what the automatic counter is tied to. If you accidently click on "Blog Entry", people will come in to remind you that it needs to be a book review. (Of course, you can do blog entries for non-Book-Review things.)

And last hint (for now LOL) -- you might read a few reviews to steal ideas for what you'd like to do in your own reviews (e.g., will yours be as simple as one or two words "Recommended" "Highly Recommended") or will you do longer reviews? A quick way to see various styles would be to go to some of the team pages (click on their names over in the tags field to the right -- e.g. The Dream Team or TBR -- The Born Readers or even my team DFWPlus) b/c they have several people reviewing in their own way.

Most important thing is to have fun with it!
