Okay, I got to bed at 1:40 am the morning/night before. I think my cat knew I was going b/c she woke me up repeatedly, and because I was antsy I had problems getting back to sleep but I tried until I finally gave up and rolled out of bed at 5 am.
I left for the airport about 6, and was checked in and through the whole customs thing by 7:30am. I stopped for a starbucks, okay, 2 and then I found my gate, where I met up with editor Susan Swinwood and Aideen Chung from our ebook program. We talked, for about 20-30 minutes or so before they let us board our plane.
The plane; it was one of those teeny ones that make me nervous but then again, it could always be worse. At least it was a smooth flight and there were no problems with the luggage or transport to the hotel. I didn't know it at the time, but Aline (Sarge) from the luna boards had the seat behind me.
We reached the hotel about 11:30 and I was greeted just inside the hotel door by my roomie Donna Michaels, aka DonnaV4 from our boards... but of course our room wasn't ready yet so I stowed my locking luggage and spent the rest of the afternoon carting around my heavy laptop bag.
We went first to registration, to get our welcome packages. Then we found the room where the eBook expo was being held but we couldn't drop off Donna's things yet so we went for some lunch (carrying her promo stuff).
Went to check on our room, nope, not ready, so we went and checked out club RT. An hour or so later, we tried again for our room, nope, still not ready yet.
So Donna went to a workshop for her publisher and I sat in a chair in the hallway outside and people watched.
While sitting there I encountered Megan Hart, Lauren Dane, Vivi Anna and Kimberly Taye Taylor. There were hugs, and then some picture taking and then Donna's workshop finished so we went back to the lobby for a 3rd time.
*phew* Finally, We got a room, so we went up and freshened up and then returned to the eBook expo to work. I walked that room at least 4 times, talked to a couple hundred people, telling them about the challenge, our ebook program and showing them how to use the Sony eBook reader. (I should probably mention that for most of the conference I also took the stairs between the two floors most of the events were behing held on because there was like a 20 min wait for an elevator.)
I saw Peggy Webb at the expo, who was as lovely as when we'd met in Dallas, but as usual I didn't have my camera with me.
After that we were supposed to go up to our room to get ready for the first of the parties, the theme being Hollywood's golden era. Now I had a good dress that would have worked for it, but by the time I got back to my room I was so tired... and I made the mistake of sitting on the bed, and that was it. I barely had the energy to wash my face, tidy my clothes, etc for the next days events and pass out.

You missed the party?!!!
You missed the party?!!! I'm shocked!

I did, I missed the party,
I did, I missed the party, and apparently one heck of a show.
I'll have to go a day early next year, just to get all the hooplah getting registered, etc stuff out of the way.

Ahh Lorie
Sorry you missed the party. If I had spent the day waking up early after a bad sleep, going on a plane, and waiting all day for my room...I'd have passed out to.

It was fun, I was so tickled to meet everyone. I know we did a lot of waving as we passed in the halls, lol. but next time we'll have to do lunch or something so we can actually talk a bit.
