shopping

So last week while I was at my sister's, I went shopping for pants the one day. So I picked a bunch that I liked and off to the fitting I went with the sizes I was last year. They were too small. I think I gained a little weight since last summer. So I find a larger size and try all them on. I can close them but my butt looks big(ok maybe that's not totally the pantsSmile). When she was bringing me back we stopped at another store and I felt like friggin Goldilocks. I had like 5 pairs of pants the same size but some were too large and some too small none just right. Went to another store in same mall and went to try on another 10 pair. Again with the Goldilocks syndrome. After trying all those on I got two pair. No wonder I hate shopping. (NFM)

Too funny but true

Each MFG has their own size chart I think, so you can't even go by your real size these days.  You can try on 10 pairs in a size 12 and none fit the same.  1/2 are too big, 1/2 are too small. And none are "just right"  I admire your fortitude to keep trying them on while you had your "Goldilocks" experience.  I gave up on trying on pants years ago.  I now buy all my pants from QVC's Demin and Co line.  All their pants are true to size and they always fit the same.

My daughters were having

My daughters were having this conversation last weekend. They have both noticed that you can't base things on the size tag. They are both tall, slender girls and they get frustrated trying to find anything that fits well.

Nancy

I'm tall so have a

I'm tall so have a hard time finding clothes and now that I'm heavier I really have a hard time. Books fit me so much better and give me a much better feeling about myself so I'll just keep shopping for books and forget the clothes till I absolutely have to have something.

LOL--I like your thinking!

I feel for you....

I buy a lot of the same brands so that I don't have to guess on the size, although sometimes even a trusted brand will slip in something that fits differently.

Also, I always look at the fabric content to see if it'll shrink.  Shrinkable things I buy a size up.

Even though this has nothing to do with reading and writing (unless we can relate it to how comfortable we are while reading and writing) it was still a funny post! Smile

Ah, I hear you!

I hate clothes shopping!

luckily my everyday work clothes are jeans or khackis ... with cotton henleys or tanks with a plaid shirt  .... so I don't have too much trouble for shopping for those ... in fact, I often pick up the tops at V.V. because here on the farm anything can happen and work clothes get ruined so easily

when I find a shop that carries the styles and sizes that usually work for me, I'm a customer for life ..... esp. when it comes to shoes!   .... I'm well known for buying more than one pair of the exact same pair of shoes because they wear well and are comfortable ....

I'm glad you managed to get two pairs of pants! ... but that was alot of work in finding them

I do not

I do not like shopping either and that is most definitely one of the reasons.  I really hate it when we spend half a day trying on clothes for me - end up with two items, like you and then my hubby simply grabs four pairs of pants off the pile and buys them.  Never tries them on.  Never doubts for one second they will fit.  And dang it all...they do.   Tongue out

Canadians

The first store I went to was Fashion Max. Usually when I'm at my sister's this is where I'll go because it's right around the corner and their prices are good. When we got back here we stopped at Zellers and finally we ended up at Mark's Work Warehouse where I finally ended up getting the two pairs.

Katherine- I used to get a lot of my son's cloths at V.V because he grew out of them so quick and he was so rough on them. With shoes I used to walk into the store and say "I want those in a 71/2" and not try them on.

Deb- Every so often I need the clothes to go book shopping. But then I take money from the clothes bugdet to add to the book budget cause books are so much more important then cloths.Smile

Nancy- It's kind of depressing when you think you know your size and keep having to go up and up. No wonder there are so many teens out there that are weight consious.

Tammy- Thanks hopefully these two will last a while and I won't have to go through that for a long while.

Amanda- I hate shrinkage "Did I really gain THAT much weight"Surprised

Nicole- that is so true about men's cloths. Is there a conspiracy by the cloths manufacturers  to drive women nutsSmileSmile

Well I'm off to  shop again. This time it won't be as depressing because I'm going for food. But there's a Goodwill in the same plaza so hopefully they have some books, cause you know I need to restSmile

Shoes

I got so tired of trying on clothes and ealing with the wrong size thing.  To my shock, I found a couple of mail order places where the sizes actually seem sterady and are made for my body type.  I never thought I would ever order clothes via mail order because of the horrible experiences I have had trying on clothes in stores.  Shoes are now my issue.  SInce I broke my ankle, my left foot is a size biger than the left.  I can sit and try on 50 pairs of shoes (in two sizes per shoe) and none can feel ok.
