Matt Lauer was in Holland, The Netherlands this morning!

for those fo you who read Betty Neels books, you know that the majority of her hero's are Dutch Medical Men from Holland.  This morning, before work, I turned on the Today Show and they are having the "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" and today he was in The Netherlands.  I was rivited to the set.  Seeing the canals, the flowers and the buildings brought so many of Betty's books to mind.  One of my favorites involved the beroine and a little boy taking a boat, sneaking down the canal in a boat and leaving to save a puppy.

For others of you who know me personally, I am rather large in size.  The chances of me ever going to The Netherlands is slim.  To have Betty Neel's books for ever remembered in my mind and to see the pictures, well, all I can say is what a wonderful day!  Thank you Betty Neels and Matt Lauer.

I hope everyone else's day is as good as mine.Laughing

FF - I do not fit in a plane seat and have to purchase 2 seats and ask for a seat belt extender.  And I do want to visit Europe but will have to drag my sister along, since she speaks French, Spanish, etc.

Maybe some day.  I am going to start a new walking program in May, so hopefully it will reduce me in size.

And I do expect you and Sadhbh to meet me for coffee when the time ever comes. Laughing

Coffee it is. You have to go

Coffee it is. You have to go through Lille to get from Amsterdam to Sadhbh anyway.Wink

I love that segment

I always enjoy the "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" segment when it comes around -- it's so much fun to have an armchair view of all the different places.  I'm sorry I missed this one, I was out at the market early a.m.!  I'll tune in tomorrow to see where he is then.

Betty, God bless on the walking program.  My DH also has to request the seatbelt extenders, which is enormously distressing for him.  We're trying to eat healthier and get the weight down as well.

MJ/BNW,

Here's some incentive. Not only was my dh's mother born in The Netherlands, she was born in Friesland. DH has never been. So, sometime in the next few years, we will go. DH wants to go with his folks. I would prefer to spend my time with other people but his folks aren't THAT bad and it does make sense to go with the in-laws . . . anyway, I/we would meet up with you. And I'd like to do more France. DH would like to do Italy. So, if you start your walking program this year, you should be ready to go before we have our $$ saved up (we live on one income, so it will take us AT LEAST 2 years and probably more like 4 to be able to go -- plenty of time for you to reach a reasonable goal).

Deal? You walk, I'll save $$. :)

Celtic Lass - Sorry you

Celtic Lass - Sorry you missed it.  The bridges over the canal were awesome as well as the flowers.  Thank you for the good wishes on the walking.

Penn - You have a deal.  I'll start walking and you start saving.  It would be great to have someone who knows the area and the language to travel with.
