Well what do you think - can I stop at 80 for the month or do I have to push to read a few

more and blog them by tomorrow evening to up the April total? Innocent

I'm going to be away from Thursday till Sunday and won't have an opportunity to blog or even drop in, so maybe I'd better get motorin' to leave y'all something to read (like you don't have books! Surprised) and some nice summaries with links so you can actually go directly to each review Smile

If I stop hanging around the boards I might manage to make it to 320 by tomorrow evening (we still need a good replacement for the "ooh" smiley)

Night all

Go for it!

I'm getting close to 100

I'm getting close to 100 for the month of April, and I'm gonna hit it!  That's a big milestone for me.

This is my first month EVER doing this challenge.  I read in one of your blogs that you've read 2000 books for the challenges here!  I don't think I'll be able to keep up this ratio of reading, it's a little insane, but it's fun!   Don't know how you keep it up Sadhbh, when do you sleep?  :p

Sleep?

Surprised

What's that?

*grin*   Is it sad that I plan my reading by the amount of light?  I read print books during the day and eBooks at night!  That way I don't have to have lights on and can just read off the glow of the computer.

Happy reading Sadhbh, I see more of your reviews popping up!

to try and match your goal of 100 for the month, but something tells me twelve books read and blogged by midnight would be pushing it Undecided

So I'll settle for 90 Wink

My monthly record was one hundred and ten read and blogged (i don't count May 2007 when I just "dumped" a backlog)

Keep up the good work

Ha... I tried little book

Ha... I tried little book lights when i was in high school... and they were so crappy and useless. It took me four hours to read a book with those lights rather than two! Maybe book lights have gotten better though! I'll chug along with my computer, it's how I like it.

About the "competitive instincts" ... lol! I don't think I can compete with your 2000. You're a long distance runner and I'm a first time sprinter! (I've got 21 hours left to read before midnight my time, fyi, so I'll probably hit 102) I've got book 99 read and still need to blog it, and I'm going to start on book 100 now :)

I could TRY next month maybe to compete with your record though if you wanna play! If anyone else can get in on a goal of between 50-100 books a month, maybe we'll have better luck hitting the 100 000!

btw... I was telling myself it would be "cool" to contribute 1000 books to this challenge. Isn't that a lovely, nicely rounded number? But hell... I came in too late for that. Even assuming I can somehow manage to repeat this magical 100 book month 9 times, that will get me to 900. It's nice to aim high though! (Maybe 500 is a more realistic number, I can set that as my minimum aim)

you've read since January Innocent

I did well in 2006 with 957 books but I wasn't working that year Laughing

Last year I went back to work (end of February) so I only made it to 882 (because you work up leave for the subsequent year so I haven't had much holidays since)

I'm currently on track for a total of 968, if I can get a boost in during my "holidays" - ideally that would mean reading forty-three books in the next twelve days and then keeping up a momentum of 2.74 books a day, EVERY day Surprised - I could make it to the coveted four figures by Dec 31st (where's the "ooh" smiley when I need it)

FF would of course be delighted, because she gets vicarious thrills from the number of books I read Sealed

DH might be less so, but he likes me to be happy, and when I'm reading I'm VERY happy Innocent

it's a bit too early to worry about things, I'm supposed to be shopping and packing for our weekend away (and I'll have to fit in a bit of reading and blogging and summary compilation before midnight)

320 for a four month period isn't doing too badly, but it would be nice if someone could catch up with me and take a bit of the pressure off Wink

I'm trying...

to work up to it so that maybe this summer I can try to give you a run for your money, Sadhbh! Wink  Hey, I'm reading around 40 books a month which is a jump in my stats so I'm trying at least!  My first two months were just very slow but I've finally gotten on somewhat of a roll lately....

Smile - it doesn't mean I won't read anything between now and tomorrow, just that I won't have to blog it until May Wink

You should have no problem catching up on me with a little practice, Debbie Innocent

Replying to Sadhbh (her comments in italics)

You've read since January Innocent

I have, and you know, I keep an Excel index of all the books I've read. I started writing one sentence about each book, kind of saying my fav part or the ick factor in that book. I could go back and add up to 200 books, but man that takes work! That's a lot to blog all at once. And it kind of would feel like cheating, since I wasn't reading with intent to blog! lol... I'd have to sacrifice a day of reading to blog my ass off if I played catch up. For the sake of hitting the challenge's 100 000 goals, it might be worth it, but I kind of liked starting fresh and blogging-as-I-read like I did in April.

*is envious of Sadhbh's lovely yearly totals*

off Wink

You've got pressure on ya? From people like FF who cheer you on?

Why is it cheating to blog your backlog?

You've read them since January and it is the 2008 challenge

Now I'm not suggesting you blog all your 2007 books Smile

and I don't read with intent to blog, I just read - and blog because it's contributing to a literacy charity - in fact if it hadn't been for the charity I would have given up blogging this year and just read, well maybe next year

It just feels weird cuz the

It just feels weird cuz the books wouldn't all be correct, it would be approximated, and it wouldn't represent my true reading ratio because it wasn't done as-I-read.

If I don't feel like reading one day maybe i'll go through my book index and try to put in the 2008 books. I know my list of eBooks and Library books is purely from 2008. And I know I bought a set of 100 and then another 50 older HP books off of eBay sellers in 2008 (though some of those are still in my TBR pile).

ETA: my library and ebook lists have 130 books that have quick reviews already written up for them (I wrote comments for myself, so I'd know which ones I hated/loved/need-to-keep), so hey, those would be easy as pie to do up!

so what are you waiting for?

Surprised Smile

Shuddup, I'm reading...

Shuddup, I'm reading...  *grin*  atm!

I'm buried in books that I want to read.  I've still barely touched my last eBay order and I just went to the library and got some Silhouette Desires I'd been wanting to read.

I will do up those 130 eBook/Library books at some point though.

Practice...

makes perfect so I'm practicing, I'm practicing!!!!  Wink

April (Not my Month)

So sorry ya'll I've read in April, but did not get the reviews done.  I've been behind.  Then last week I messed my knee up, finally decided today enough is enough and made an appointment to have it checked out tomorrow (I hate to pay for Dr's visit, especially to specialists).  I read about 20 books and will get them blogged, I sorry I let ya downCry  I will read a bunch this month.  It will help that I cannot walk.  Well Happy MaySmile

to me is December, because I personally see midnight on the 31/12 as the cutoff point both for blogging and reading (and given that I've participated in three challenges, I needed a cutoff point)

See you in a few days
