I have decided

When (I’m assuming here obviously that this is going to happen at some point in my future ;-) )  But WHEN I finally do get published I have decided the first thing I’m going to purchase is a laptop.

I want to be able to move anywhere so I can I don’t miss out of sights like this ~~

sun between storms

Yeah, I can do that with paper–I do–and yeah, sometimes the slower
pace which is then forced can be great for figuring out little road
blocks, but overall it would be so nice not to be stuck down in a
basement if I really want to spend my free time writing.  There are
advantages to having my ‘office’ in the basement, like, in the summer
when its boiling outside the basement feels like heaven or it can even
be a quiet escape spot, but overall…I’d just really like the mobility
I’d get from being able to have a laptop.  I envision typing away as I
sit in front of the fireplace on cold wintery days or when I am lounging beneath the backyard pine tree watching the kids play.

Oh yeah, I’m soooo making this my first purchase.  :-)

EXERCISE: I’ve made my goal for each day and recorded it on my xLog page–YAY!!!

Laptops

Hope you get your laptop sooner rather than later.

My husband was after me for a long time to get a laptop, but I was trying hard to resist.  When he finally broke my resistance I was like how did I ever live without this.

Now I'm on my second one...my first one had more issues than I wanted to deal with, and decided I'd lived with the ugly carpet a lot of years already a few more wouldn't hurt!

When you become a laptop owner I can't wait to hear what you think.

WHEN is the right thing to say! I always tell myself when not if.

Evertime I think about a laptop I wonder if I would accidently leave it somewhere. I did leave my purse in Heathrow once and that was scary and almost an international incident. I guess I could tape it to my body or something.

Sounds like a plan...

Hey, Cole, nice picture! My first purchase after publishing was a laptop, although I had to get it on payments. LOL I'm definitely a laptop person now. Especially with kids, having a laptop makes it easier to take your work with you. Too, they have these wireless modem adapters now that you can plug right into your USB port so you can have high speed net anywhere you go. It's really convenient.

Pom Pom swishing for your future successes!  Definitely "when" and not "if". :-)  Let's chat soon.

Cole, an excellent idea!

when I used to travel to visit friends in the US I had to have a laptop to keep up with work .. the first time, I borrowed one but then the next time I purchased a refurbished one and I had that one for about 4 years ... it croaked and then I went back to using my desktop (in the basement) and that's probably why in 2006 my blogging and participating on the forums was so much less  .... but Dec 2006, I got another laptop, again a refurb from IBM/Lenovo and I adore it .. in the den where we hang out the most, I have it sitting beside my lazyboy on a tv tray/table  ... it's great, I can surf and watch tv at the same time .. I can live without my desktop, but I can't live without my laptop  ...

when you're finally in the market for one, take a look at the Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpads ... they're a quality laptop that's durable ... mine has the anti-shock thing for the harddrive so that when it sense a stress/fall the harddrive automatically protects itself ... though if you want alot of bells and whistles at a cheap price you'll need to go elsewhere ... but for a durable work horse with some normal capabilities (not gamers) a Thinkpad is a good choice .... it's ranked as one of the highest for business use  .... you can get great deals of refurbs off the IBM website

and I agree .... it's not a matter of if it's a definite WHEN you'll be published!!   :D

Left it behind?

Holy Moly!  I knew there was a reason I don't carry a purse!  I stick my id in the sleeve of the checkbook and that in my pocket. Hopefully a laptop won't be too easy to forget.  Cool

I like that 'when' rather than the 'if' too.  Smile

Thanks Cora

I took that picture when 4 and I snuck out between storms.  It was so refreshing!

I've considered doing payment plans but...I think my hubby would look at me like I'm crazy as we already have two desktop computers.  Okay, so he does already Tongue out  but it would be a whole lot easier for him to stomach if I had at least some of it saved.  Smile

And yes, lets chat!!!  I saw you were on this morning but didn't have a chance to say hi and you were off.  Soon!!!

Awesome tidbits!

Thanks Katherine!  I love when people share their thoughts on what they like and why.  It really helps for something like this.  The field of choices out there is HUGE!!!

RE: I HAVE DECIDED

That is ONE PURTY PIX!  But yes!  Do get a Laptop.  A while after you do, and you're used to it, you'll wonder how you got along so long without one.  Luckily, at my place, I have both.  A "big whopper" of a PC in the "family office", but a laptop for when I'm on the road, or at the beach, or skating, etc.
