They believe in me!!!
Janet Tronstad, one of the stellar authors for Harlequin's Steeple Hill lines, suggested that I try out for RWA's PRO program. For those of you who aren't writers, or haven't joined the Romance Writers of America (or one of its international equivalents), the PRO program is for writers who have had a manuscript requested by an editor at a recognized Romance publishing house. I wasn't certain whether I qualified, but they accepted the "paperwork" I submitted (on a CD-ROM), and early this week, my pin arrived in the mail!
Writing is such a solitary business. Encouragement like this really makes it worthwhile!
Once again, thank you Krista Stroever, for writing such an incredibly wonderful rejection letter! Not only did it make me see the fatal flaws in my ms., but it enabled me to move forward in my writing career!

CongratulationsVery
Congratulations
Very awesome...Yay you! You must be on cloud nine? The pin is gorgeous.
All my best to you~
Congratulations.
Hope- Awesome attitude on getting a rejection letter. I am awaiting my first from Harlequin. I have rxed rejection e-mails from Avon and Berkeley but they were only enquiries so that doesn't count.
Good luck in the future and I hope to join you soon in PRO.

Thank you both!
I really appreciate that! Yes, definitely Cloud 9 (or is there a Cloud 10???)! It is an affirmation that I'm on the right track, Dawn!
Angel, rejections are never easy, but Krista's was especially helpful in that she pointed out what was wrong with the ms. Going back over the ms. after that, I could see where it needs help. I'm not going to scrap it entirely, but I am going to change much of it, as well as ramp up the suspense. Yes, you should try for PRO. You can read about the requirements on the RWANational website. Best wishes with your work, and I hope to see your name on a Harlequin novel soon!
