Interview with a Vampire: Caine Valorian

Caine Valorian is a Crime Scene Investigator for the city of Necropolis. His lab is his baby and he spent months setting it up, getting it organized, buying the equipment; all of it funded by his own sizeable fortune. A vampire doesn't live as long as he has without amassing some wealth... if he's smart.

Caine Valorian would love to come talk. And maybe on one day, Kellen could pop in and disrupt things, saying he's stepping in for Caine... Kellen's book is book four and would be out in early 09.

ABOUT VIVI ANNA

A BAD GIRL at heart, Vivi Anna likes to burn up the pages with her original unique brand of fantasy fiction. Whether it's in ancient Egypt, or in an apocalyptic future, Vivi always writes fast paced action-adventure with strong independent women that can kick some butt, and dark delicious heroes to kill for.

Once shot at while repossessing a car, Vivi decided that maybe her life needed a change. The first time she picked up a pen and put words to paper, she knew she had found her heart. Within two paragraphs, she realized she could write about getting into all sorts of trouble without suffering the consequences.

Hello everyone!

As you can see I'm not Caine, but he assures me he will be here soon.  He's a little busy this morning with a new case.  He's out at the crime scene right now with Eve, Jace and Lyra trying to piece together the latest ghastly crime in Necropolis.

If you have any questions for him, please ask them, and when Caine gets here I"m sure he'll be happy to answer them.

Nice to meet you (I think)...  Nice name for a vampire.  When did you become one, and where?  And where's the general location of Necropolis?

Hello Hope.  It is a pleasure to meet you.  I apologize for my lateness, but I was otherwise engaged in the crime lab.

To answer your questions, I was born in 1711 in Ireland and reborn as a vampire in 1753.  I've been a vampire for 255 years.  I've had some good and some bad times, but all in all I've learned to accept my condition.

I live and work in the city of Necropolis, which is about an hour outside of San Antonio along the I-35.   But you can't see it so easily.  It's been hidden from non-otherworlders for years.   For your safety or ours, I'm not quite sure as of yet.

If you have any more questions, I will be happy to answer them...if I can.  You have to remember that I can't easily divulge all of my knowledge.  Trust me, it's for your benefit.

Caine Valorian

I've been enjoying reading The Valorian Chronicles, and the whole world of Necropolis.

My question is, how did Necropolis end up in Texas?  It's a pretty wild place for a secret city of vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. to end up!    Cool

Necropolis

Actually an hour south of San Antonio along I-35 would be an excellent place to hide Necropolis, especially if it is made to look like an abandoned military base (as I think I remember it is suppose to be).  But an hour north of San Antonio along I-35 would put it in Austin.  Not a very good hiding place.Surprised

Do you have a long lost vampire twin? Just askin'.Wink

Thank you for your question

Thank you for your question Celtic Lass.  Ellen is quite right about the city being south of San Antonio.  It is indeed there, cleverly disguised as a military instalation.     Surrounded by tall fences with razor wire and several check points, it is quite difficult to actually get to the city itself.    Thankfully no one has tried to sneek in on foot.   I imagine they'd be shot on sight.

The government certainly doesn't want us Otherworlders mixing too much with regular people.   Our own city was a way of segrating us from the rest of humanity.   Too bad they didn't count on the cooperation we've been getting from the San Antonio crime lab and police force.   I would never have met my lovely Eve without that.

Stargirl, I do not have a long lost vampire twin, sorry to say.

I did have a brother once though, but he died during the plague in Europe.

Training

Could you tell a little about your training? I'd be very interested.

Also, had you been acquainted with your staff before you started working together? You all work so well together.

Many kind thanks...

...for your information, sir!  I look forward to reading about you and your interesting life.

Mr. Valorian --

Do you think, now that Eve is on staff, that you'll have more human team members? What do you think the chances are that, some day, humans and Otherworlders will be able to coexist together, without the need for Otherworlders to remain confined (for lack of a better word) to Necropolis?

Thanks!

Mr. Valorian..

Do you think that your staff would ever welcome another human on the staff? I know I, for one, would love to work with you and your kind!
