The sun is supposed to make an appearance to the tune of 70+ degrees today. Imagine that! After months of rain, we get the sun's presence today. It's taking its time coming out from behind the clouds, but I am waiting for it.
I grabbed my self tanner and slathered it on this morning after my shower. I made sure I spread it evenly so as to avoid streaks. You all know those horrible lines, right? Well, I think I've done this long enough to figure out how to avoid those.
Tomorrow's temp is supposed to be in the 80s - YAY!!!!!! My favorite range of temperatures. I absolutely love the 80s (the music of that decade wasn't half bad either! HA!) and wish this summer-like weather would hang around longer than predicted, but alas, Sunday will be back down in the 60-degree range, so the weatherman says.
This weather is just a teaser, me thinks.

the weather
I wish our area was supposed to have sunny weather for the next few days. It's supposed to rain, and I'm walking in an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event Friday night into Saturday morning. Last year I froze it was so cold and windy! Good luck with the tanning!
Lynn
Hi Lynn!
Nice to see you! Well, I haven't taken the time to look and see how my slathering job did. LOL Hope it's ok.
The sun is still trying to peek out from behind the clouds. I think it's being shy.
Hopefully for your walk, it won't rain! Good for you for doing something like that!

Hi Kristen
I have a question about your self tanner. I am not a sun lover even though I live in California. I'm a Latina and I do tan very easily. I'd get brown as a nut in the summers as a kid but, as I got older, I avoid the sun since I don't really enjoy laying out in the sun . I have a medium coloring but I am much fairer under my cloths and my legs are just too light.
I haven't tanned them in a long time because I am suppose to stay out of the sun now due to some medication that I am taking which says to avoid the sun.
I did try to tan my legs once anyway but I should not have done that because I did some damage to my skin because of the medicine. Still, I wanted to wear capri pants without looking weird all white leg and brown arms. eek!
So, I got that self tanner. I tried one and I can't remember the brand. It worked really nicely and I wasn't embarrassed by my white legs. But . . . then I started to smell an odd odor. Kind of like bleach or stinky feet. Weird. At first I thought my feet stank but then I realized it was my legs. I know it was the tanner because, when I let it wear off, the smell was gone. Then I tried Neutragena and that one also smelled. Finally, I tried the one that is lotion with the tanner, maybe Dove??, and it gave me the smell too.
I really liked all the ones I tried because they gave my legs a natural tan look and not streaky but the SMELL! I could not stand it. Do you have that problem? What kind do you use?
I'll have white legs again this summer if I don't find a good one.
Margie :)
Hi Margie
Margie, I totally know what you are talking about in regards to the smell. Jergens came out with one a couple years ago and it worked really well but it smelled horrid! Just nasty!
I use anything and everything by Avon right now. It doesn't smell. They've got this shave-minimizer lotion/tanner that is called Summer Legs or something and it really works. It is a gradual tan, so you need to start using it before the sun. I started yesterday and today is Day 2 of using it and my legs are getting a nice color. Avon also has a firming lotion that is a self tanner and there's another product which I can't think of the name right now.
Also there is a product called Tan Towel that looks like a baby wipe. You just apply it on your skin and in a few hours you have color. I got it from HSN but not sure if they still carry it.
I dislike white legs and use self tanner on them. The rest of my body gets color from being in the sun. My legs just don't get color and I don't know why. It's annoying.

Hi Kristen
Hi Kristen
Thank you so much for the Avon info. I will have to find an Avon lady. I think one works with my aunt so I'll check out that Summer one.
My face and arms are tan because it is impossible to stay out of the sun. My arms have tanned over years of being exposed to bit s of sun but my legs are usually covered up. Sitting in the sun is not my thing and I shouldn't anyway because of the medicine.
I am glad to know that I am not the only one who smells that odd odor. I was thinking that maybe it is a chemical reaction to my skin??? I really hope the Avon product will work.
Margie :)
Self-tanner
Well, it was so funny when I was using the self-tanner that Jergens made, I mean, I loved how it made my legs look, but the smell was bad. Anyway, I wrote to them (Jergens) and complained about the smell. They replied, saying that they couldn't help the smell as it was covered up as much as possible. The untreated ingredient smells really bad if not covered with some kind of fragrance, and they did the best they could. Do you know what they did? They sent me a coupon for the same nasty-smelling product. LOL!!! Needless to say, I didn't redeem it!

LOL, Oh Kristen that is
LOL, Oh Kristen that is funny.
Now that I think about it, I believe it was Jergens not Dove that I used. I thought that there was something wrong with me because all the products were smelling like that. I am so glad I got to talk to you about this. I forgot to call my aunt about the Avon lady. I'll have to do that tomorrow.
Margie :)
You can always go online to
You can always go online to www.avon.com and order there, but the pricing is not always the same as if you order through a rep. I hope you find something you like.
