Promoting the 100,000 Book Challenge

So have y'all received your copy of the summer issue of Simply Books? I turned immediately to page 19 to read about the challenge (again) and was thrilled that there is a way to do this without being online.

I have also put flyers up at my YMCA and my vet's plus left some of my hand-me-down books there. And for the books at the vet's, I put a little piece of paper in each one that says, "Review this book (and any others that you read) at http://community.eharlequin.com or mail to:
100,000 Book Challenge / P.O. Box 9069 / Buffalo, NY 14269-9069
Include the book’s title and author. If you wish, you can also include a brief review.
" It fits on 3 lines -- I would have liked to say more (like "please include a review"), but wanted to be brief and to the point. I'm going to the library today and just might slip some of those pieces into the Harlequin books on their shelves. Is that too sneaky? Y'all can steal any of these ideas from me. Really. Or come up with better ones and I'll steal those! :)

I'll be doing the same thing at church and my kids' school -- flyers, donated books, little pieces of paper reminding them of the challenge when they take the book home. The difference with the vet's is that I left some Desires and Blazes there. No Desires or Blazes or anything steamy at the other places.

How's your "Member Round-Up Month" going?

Promoting the 100,000 Book Challenge

hi Penn  ..... those are all great ideas!  ..... I'll see if I can do the same .... hmmmm, leaving books hehind, that's actually not a bad idea as well .... I have tons of books to get rid of

so far I've printed up copies of the flyer Jayne sent out ... and put them up with permission at my favourite UBSs and left some with the Library

I know, not much of an effort so far .... May's a busy month on the farm .... hopefully June I'll be able to catch up

great work, Penn! .... you are indeed an inspiration :D

When I got to the library, I didn't know which books to put my limited slips of paper into. I picked Poison Study and then saw another LUNA near it, so did that one. Then I wandered over to the romance section and decided to choose books that looked like they'd been read a lot on the assumption that they were more likely to be checked out soon. I wonder if it will work without the background info on WHY they should go and review the book.

The slips of paper in the books at the other places supplement a flyer that the reader has hopefully seen and will remind them that they're motivated. :)

Anyway, it was a little, cheap, easy thing to do so . . .

Way to go

Way to go Penn and I'll try to do the same. Good ideas putting them in some of the books.
