Flash Storm by Jill Shalvis
You'll find the online read HERE:
Sam Reed is a firefighter by day, and volunteers for Search and Rescue on the side. He’s the definition of fit: sculpted muscles, hard abs and able to stride into any blaze hose swinging. But today, he’s about to walk into a fire that even he might not be able to put out. And its name is Sara.
Sara, his ex-girlfriend. The Sara he’d proposed to one day only to find out the next that she’d bailed and moved to Paris. Without a word. The Sara he’s been trying to get over for the past five years.
And now she’s back. And on their mountain. Heading for their spot. But without a guide and in the middle of a wicked storm, she’s headed for disaster. Unless he can rescue her. Rescue them both.
Let the sparks fly….

I can't wait to read the next chapter. I am captivated already!
I wonder why she left without a word?
I wonder why she left without a word unless someone interferred? if not, then I don't like that. Regardless of her reason Sam deserved to know why she was turning down his proposal and leaving.

Ok, I was able to find it
Ok, I was able to find it by clicking on the Flash Storm above.
Hmmm, wonder why she's back from Paris...
not to smart on her part to have him meet her that way, I guess she knew him well enough to know that he would go after her and that it was probably the only way he'd meet her, but what if he was still flat on his back? she'd be in big trouble...
Seems like this online is going to have lots of sparks...
will be back tomorrow, hopefully it's on the main oline read page by then!
Finally found the story.
This looks like it will be very interesting. Looking forward to the next chapter.
I found Flashback this weekend and picked it up. Might start it as soon as I finish the two books I am reading now.

Technical Difficulties...
Hi All
I'm glad you have all be enjoying the story.
Unfortunately, a technical glitch is preventing Jill from joining us. However, we are working to rectify the problem.
Jill will be here as soon as we get the problem solved.
Please accept our apologies.

Great start! as are all of
Great start! as are all of Jill's books!! it is hard to wait each day for the next installment!
Sara better have a good explanation
She better have a good explanation for why she left without a word. It is rather presumptive on her part to expect him to just go along with whatever she wants. I have to laugh though. If it were Sam manipulating Sara, he'd be labelled as a "controlling alpha." She shows up five years after leaving, no explanation no communication and just expects him to follow her and do whatever she wants. There is a nasty storm coming on -- but she didn't even bother to consider that when she made her plans. Those of you that don't like alphas would certainly be all over Sam if he were the one doing this.
Glad this is a daily and I can't wait to read what each chapter.
LOL Vio. True. So true.
LOL Vio. True. So true. I'll have to think about why that is. Maybe because I don't think men can be controlled like women can be controlled. But mostly because I read chapter 17 due a to computer glitch and…it makes a difference.

Chapter Three
It was too short, it's over before you know it!!! But it was good, that Sara really knows how to speak a mans language!! I want more!
LOL LIdia, I'm sure you are
LOL LIdia, I'm sure you are right! I"ve seen too many cases of men overpowering women with their strength though and I guess that is why I'm more inclined to give women more of a chance. I still don't like what she did 5 yrs ago to him and I don't like it that she's trying to get his attention through sex.
In a way I understand why she left, she had to try her wings. I don't agree with the way she left or her lack of communication.
Still I"m liking the story and wish I could read more quicker.
I am thinking there is
a bigger reason why she left 5 years before. She said something about running away and I am thinking it was not him she was running from. We will have to wait and see what happens. Jill always does a good job of giving reasons why something was done.
Elaine
Hmmm you may be right, I
Hmmm you may be right, I just assumed she was running away from their relationship because she was afraid if she didn't he would talk her into staying and she'd be stymied and not be able to do what she wanted to do.
The timing is what puzzles me
She left the day after he proposed. I just assumed it was because she wasn't ready - but I hated that she "chickened out" and didn't bother to explain it to him.
Now for whatever reason she wants him back and will do anything to get him. Tricking him into going after her on the trail and now using sex -- not sure how I feel about that. If she were a "male" I'd be livid! Somehow it seems hypocritical to allow her to get away with things that I wouldn't want a "male" to get away with.
Can't wait to read the next chapter.
Well.... Obviously they
Well.... Obviously they both still have chemistry going for them. I'm glad he stopped as I was hoping they'd do some talking, though I know this is a blaze!
We are seeing a little more into her reasons for running out the first time.
It's really hard to go chapter by chapter here, Jill
...
Wow! Wow! Wow! I'd like to
Wow! Wow! Wow! I'd like to know what going on in his head. I know what going on in hers.

Sam and Sara
Hi everyone! I just wanted to poke my head in and wave, and say thanks so much for reading. Oh, and for those of you who think reading this SHORT story day by day is hard, trust me, it was even harder to write, lol! I'm used to having a lot more pages to work with, but I have to admit, I got a kick out of trying. Hope you have fun with it. Best, Jill
Well whatever her reason is
Well whatever her reason is for running away, I am sure she will be able to turn his head back around to her thinking!!
I love the firefighter stories, ff's act like big tough macho men when really there is a heart of gold and marshmellow in the middle.
Great story Jill!
I am glad that he stopped!
They've been apart for five years. He doesn't know why she left. She doesn't know if he's involved with someone else right now. It is better that he stopped! They need to talk first beforing jumping into a sexual relationship. That won't solve anything.
She owes him an explanation. She may have very valid reasons for acting as she did, however, he doesn't know what they are. That still doesn't excuse her for leaving without a word. Unless she wrote him a letter and someone intercepted it. Otherwise, I don't think too much of her.
Right now I'm not a fan of hers. She decided to come back and get him and that's what she's doing -- no explanations, no nothing. I'm trying to be fair here. But I still think if it were Sam that left like that and if it were Sam that was trying to get her into bed, instead of the other way around, everyone would be jumping down his throat for being sexist, controlling, egotistical, etc..... I realize that this is a Blaze but they need to communicate, not just physicially. Proving that there is still a "connection" between them won't solve the problems of why she left, why she didn't explain or anything.
FF, not fair that you know something that the rest of us don't.
Can't wait until tomorrow's chapter is up.
Lidia
Lidia I clicked on all
Lidia
I clicked on all the chapters that were showing on the first day, but only 1 and 17 gave me a chapter.

i got to read 4 chapters
i got to read 4 chapters today! i love having to catch up but now have to wait impatiently for the next installment. hopefully in the next few chapters it will give them some time for meaningfull conversation rather than the kind where they just rip their clothes off
Lidia, I don't like Sara
Lidia,
I don't like Sara or her tactics much either... I don't like verbal abuse from men or women, that's not going on here... I especially don't like physical abuse, but he's allowing it to go on as he seems to be much stronger than she is and could have kept her from pushing him up against the tree very easily. Not a very fair evaluation on my part I'm sure, but it is the reason why I'm not all over her like I would be all over him if he was being the aggressor!
Catching up...
Yesterday I didn't get here to read the chapter so today I got to read two!!
Whew! Not the smartest thing to do spend time in the forest with a storm raging into the area!! Can't wait to hear why she left with no phone call, letter or anything to Sam. The attraction they have to each other seems to have withstood the test of time!! Now, can they build a relationship or is it just sexual chemistry? Can't wait to read the next chapter.
Jill, you do know how to keep us coming back!
I'm sure you have a surprise or two coming in future chapters.
Good Job!
Take care, happy reading,

Hi Everyone
Jill is writing a great story as is her usual style.
To my way of thinking, I think that Sara was just trying to show Sam that there were still sparks between them, or perhaps trying to see if the old feelings were still there on both parts.
I somehow get the feeling that there were valid reasons for her leaving which will unfold over the next few chapters and maybe she handled it wrong, but at the time it seemed the only way to do it. I would also think that maybe Sara has checked to see if Sam is in a relationship before setting off on this wild idea of setting things right between them if possible. Again knowing Sam the way she does, she knows they have to be somewhere isolated in order to talk.
It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds, looking forward to the next chapter.
Cryna/CF
Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
Arghh, it's the weekend and
Arghh, it's the weekend and now I have to wait longer for the next chapter...
I can see Sam's quandry, he doesn't want to get hurt all over again... and I can see hers, she realizes what she gave up. I'm sure they will both be better for the 5 year separation, but I still am annoyed that she just left him without communicating why she left.
I like Jill's stuff that I have read! I hardly ever look at blazes though, so usually miss her books. I just bought Flashpoint and will start it tonight!
Hi Cryana/CF, good to see you here on the discussion thread
Well, Lidia, you have made
Well, Lidia, you have made me think about this story, and I have to agree with you. If Sara was a guy, I would be all over her for being overbearing. But, since she is not a guy, and I think that guys are better able to walk away if they want to, I cutting her a lot of slack. Sexist? Maybe. Probably. Aw Hell. Definitely.

I just got in on this read
I also enjoy Harlequin Blaze, as well as quite a few others.
Like the rest of you, I have very mixed emotions, although I'm loving this story so far. Why did Sara leave him the day after he proposed? There has to be a good reason for it -- maybe she did leave a message somehow, and he never got it. However, the chemistry is definitely still there. So far, she is being the alpha character here. I don't like that trait in males, but like the rest of you, I agree that Sam could have ended it if he'd really wanted to.
I'll be out of town again next week, so won't be able to read anymore until I'm back home. Sigh....
Great job, Jill!
I love the story!
Even though I am "picking" on Sara (instead of the Hero for a change) I do love this story. I am sure that Jill will explain why Sara acted the way that she did. We are all human, we all make mistakes, and love and forgiveness go a long way towards making everything right.
My personal belief is that they need to "talk" before they "act." However, since this is a Blaze I am worried that this will not happen.
LOL Lidia. You are
LOL Lidia. You are welcome to pick. WE do it enough for the alpha heros. You should be able to get in some licks for this heroine.

March's Member of the Month!
Monday??
Monday is far away! It seems there is still attraction on both sides, how will it develop or will it develop? How nasty is the storm going to be? Lots of questions yet to be answered!!
Not surprising as we still have most of the story to go!!
Enjoy the weekend.
Take care, happy reading,

Jill's Series
This series is wonderful. As a volunteer firefighter my life is not exactly like the firefighters in the series. I am on call 24/7 365, whereas they have set shifts. Jill does a fantastic job in representing the lifestyle of a modern firefighter. More authors should attempt writing series about firefighters, maybe some with the main characters being volunteer firefighters and female, like many of the unrepresented heroes of the modern era.
Females can be firefighters just as well as males can! I AM LIVING PROOF!!! Emergency Responders save lives everyday. You can too, VOLUNTEER in your local community!!!
Enjoying
the story, Jill. I'm really interested in finding out why she left without a word to him.
Hugs,
April
At the end of the day, it's night.
I read Flashpoint on
I read Flashpoint on Saturday! Can't wait for Aiden's story. I am really liking this story too!
I feel for Sam. They really need to talk. Maybe she does have another reason for just leaving like she did with no word, but I'm thinking she was protecting herself. It's going to be interesting watching this story unfold. Reading chapter by chapter is really hard!
Loving the story
I'm loving the story so far, as I always tend to do with Jill's stories. I can always feel the connection between the male and female characters, and it always rings true. Not all authors do that for me.
So far, I'm loving Sam and reserving judgement on Sara, temporarily
. I have the feeling that even though I hate that she walked out on Sam I will sympathize with her reasons eventually, when I know what they are.

Love Flash Storm
Monday could not get here quick enough so I could get the next chapter, and that's saying alot cause I dread Mondays!!!! The story has pulled me in and I can't wait to see what happens next! As always Jill, this is excellent writing!
She's hurt her ankle now
What is going to happen next? Sure hope they don't have sex before they talk everything out, but since it's a Blaze, that probably won't happen.
I'm really loving this story. Jill, I definitely need to start looking for your books also!
Good job Jill...
Now that I've read today's chapter I want the next one, now!!!
Can't wait to see what will happen next. They are probably going to be stuck in the old ranger station for awhile. What do you think?
I'm sure Jill has some good things in store for us with this online read.
Have a good Monday.
Take care, happy reading,

chapter 1 of flash storm.
well, i thought the first chapter was interesting as well as the situation. the characters indifferent as well as incompatible in the sense that she works in the fashion industry and he's a fire fighter. guess that's love. anyways the separation situation is not exactly original but maybe the excuse will be but then again it might not. so far the chapters have caught my attention and i look forward to read more. really do hope its not a dissapointment as i think that all the possibilities of finding love in romance novels has been exhausted and u don't really find a good read these days. what sets them apart is mostly the setting and the physical aspects of the character but the emotional and psychological part are very much the same. the sexual attraction might be different but non the less the ending is almost entirely predictable. and at some point disappointing. but like i said looking forward to reading the rest.
Well... we knew there was a
Well... we knew there was a reason and as I thought she was trying to protect herself. It's going to be interesting to see how they work this all out.
Snow/rain/storm... they are going to be lucky if he doesn't have a relapse and catch pneumonia! Wasn't he just getting better from a flu that knocked him out!
Kay Ann, I find lots of good reads in romance novels and I am never disappointed in a HEA, sometimes the books disaapoint me in how they get there, but I usually stop reading those before the end. Jill keeps my attention all through her books and this story is not different for me
, so I hope you enjoy the rest of it and are not disappointed in the end.
