Last stop before home...

I took this photo this morning on Historic Route 66, Seligman, AZ.

Now, I'm in Beatty, Nevada, just east of Death Valley. It's a little oasis of a town, in a bit of a canyon with a river and cottonwood trees. No KOAs here. This RV stop is called Space Station RV Park. ??? But they have free WiFi, so you can't beat that.

I'm listening to Tony Hillerman's Walking the Wind, again. I fell asleep through part if it. Not while I was driving! While I was relaxing on the bunk in my trailer.

What a great trip!

We're going to try tent camping as a family this summer. We were going to start last summer but it rained so much.  I hope the kids like it an we do well. Family bonding at an affordable price and all that.

Amy Andrews, who writes Harl. Medical Romances, has asked over in the HMR Thread/Forum if anyone has advice on routes for her family's trip before RWA from Vegas to San Fran? Can you help her (she's an Aussie)? Or maybe this click will get you there more quickly (she asked today, so look for today's posts).

TIA,

Penn,

Thanks for the link. I'm more that willing to give suggestions for Amy's trip. In fact, I may have given her too much. She's stretching it trying to make it from LV to SF in two days. There's so much to see. If she takes my suggestion she'll be driving about 1/2 mile past my home!

My family tent camped from the time I was 5 until I was 14. It really impressed me. We usually camped in the Mammoth Lakes area but also took in the western national parks and visited cousins in Canada. I love it, I loved it as a kid but I probably complained a lot! Hope it all works out for you and your family.

I'm too old for tents now, my trailer suites me just fine.

I've got about 9 book reviews to catch up on...

I'm hoping it works out, too.

Our kids are pretty good but like all kids can whine. My mom is not a camper, so the only camping I did growing up was with neighbors and Girl Scouts. I've just heard so many (good) stories that I really want to give it more than the "old college try".

Thanks for helping Amy out. I wish I could go to RWA this year to meet all the Aussies who are coming -- it's so much closer for them that I expect some of them will only come this year and I hate missing them. sigh. I should tell dh that we're spending the tax rebate on a trip for me to go to the booksigning and the PJ Party during RWA instead of fixing the house's foundation LOL. Think he'll agree it's money better spent? No, me neither.

It's worth a try!
