What you're looking at folks are our first offline book reviews for the 100,000 Book Challenge! SO exciting...
Our Reader's Service Simply Books magazine featured an article about the challenge this past month and called on our OFF line subscribers to contribute to the 100,000 Book Challenge as part of what we called our Reader Round Up initiative to recruit more readers for our challenge. ..
Imagine my delight this week to receive our first TWO submissions with a total of EIGHT reviews from readers in Indiana and California...rock on ladies!! Also imagine the scene at my desk this morning with me precariously perched on my chair taking this artful shot...but that's another story.
So, how is everyone else doing? Are you having trouble keeping motivated? Does it help to know that we have an entire NEW stream of readers to help us out? Does it also help to know that we are now over 3,000 members strong reading for the challenge?

I am really impressed that
I am really impressed that so many readers are taking part in the challenge and that offline readers are actually sending in reviews to be added. Are you posting the reviews from offline readers??

PS....... I'm also impressed that you didn't break a leg or any other part of your anatomy from standing on your chair.
Wouldn't it have been easier to put the letters on the floor????

Jayne, are those 3000
people all people who have posted at least one book? Just curious. If we have 3000 readers, then we only need to average 33 or 34 books each. Which is totally doable . . .
Also curious about how many new challengers we've added in the most recent 4-6 weeks? Do your tech gurus know?

I should have a head count tomorrow....last time I checked we were averaging 16 new members a day for the last 20 days in May! The trick will be in getting everyone to read and review those 30 odd books.

I guess I can quit reading
I guess I can quit reading now since I've blogged 136 books--right? LOL, guess that won't happen since I would never be able to quit reading, especially cold turkey.

book challenge
I looked at the book challenge in January but never signed up. Then in April, I saw a reference as to meeting a 10,000 book quota. I had a few books sitting around so wrote reviews. The challenge for me is to write the reviews as I am not a typist or a reviewer but a avid reader. I found out that 35 reviews later, I am getting faster in the typing and less worried about what I say in the reviews. I am also a lousy speller and wish for spellcheck sometimes. I will continue to post reviews and have set a goal of 100 books for myself. If I had started in January I would be almost there. Gardening interferes with my reading in the summer.

Super that people are mailing in reveiws.
Reviews don't have to be elegant. Do you write out reviews in word doc first? Then if gardening interferes you already have a review started, later it cn just be copied to the challenge and it has spellcheck(I'd be lost without spellcheck)
hey Kathy D- At the beginning of the year when 100,000 was mention I thought OMG that'll be a tough one.

Including Offline Readers......
Brilliant! I try to post my reviews at least one biweekly. (I am swamped trying to keep my business afloat these days. With everyone cutting their expenses back, being in the construction industry...not so good.)
I think that anyone that sends in a review via snail mail should get double credit. It's tough enough to sit and type it. Writing it long hand has to be tougher. My mind moves way too fast to get it all down on paper.
Way to go!!
Reviews I've done 8 since
Reviews
I've done 8 since I started about a month ago but I agree anyone sending it in should get double credit. And I really want to encourage Kaelee (hope I got the spelling right) if this is helping your write. I don't know why you don't like writing that much but I'm really glad you like reading. My son loves reading but he had problems with learning disabilities when he was younger and doesn't enjoy writing. Anything that encourages writing is good in my view.

I too am amazed that Jayne
I too am amazed that Jayne didn't fall from her perch.
Although she is a bit more graceful than I am.
Awesome that so many of you are coming out of the woodwork and posting reviews. This is for an awesome cause and truly worth it. And I think it's great that non-community members are sending in their reviews through snail mail.
Keep rockin' on!

Jayne, how quickly are we adding books now?
I saw that JaninieBean came in and did her backlog of 200 however many. And I've seen so many new names! It's exciting!! I want to shout a welcome to them all!
Curious,

This is all really exciting!
And I think it says a lot about the goal that so many new people continue to sign up... but the offline readers ~ WOW! Absolutely amazing and indeed, double credit to each of them.

Hey Jayne - when you've typed in the entries is there any way
you could tag them (maybe tell us which tag you've used) so that we can find them easily and leave comments for the great ladies (gents, too?) who despite internet isolation still want to do their best for literacy

Just keep reading and posting the books you are reading. We are doing really well, and should not have a problem making our goal.
