Vacation at last!

It's finally that time of the year again for us.  We're going on vacation.  This time, not too far away to Mammoth Caves, KY.  We're the sort of folks who love trekking along slippery rocks and spooky canals for the heck of it.

Seriously, I plan to have fun.  My DD is big enough to enjoy the outdoor activities and caves now without clinging and whining too much!  Of course my DH will still do that, but I think I can handle him - lol.  Laughing

Anyway, I'm not taking the laptop or any tech device that has to do with my writing (this is hard for me, btw).  Just delicious books to read at night when I'm exhausted from the steady round of geeky tourist activity.

Everyone have a great week!  Till we blog again....

Can't wait...

to hear all about it!  We went to some caverns up in NC a few years back; I'd gone to them when I was a kid and hadn't been back till then.  Had a blast!  So I definitely look forward to hearing about your vacation....

Thanks, Deb!

I'm sure I'll have some stories to tell.  We never have quite the 'normal' vacation most people do.  A few quirks are bound to happen - lol.  But we usually have fun.

Caverns in North Carolina?  I'll have to check that out.  I've never been to any caves there.  We went to SC for our Christmas vacation.  When we were coming back up, we stopped at a restaurant in NC called The Moose Lodge, and they had to-die-for coarsely chopped apple butter.  I bought a bunch as stocking stuffers (tacky, aren't I?).  And the view of the mountains from the one side of glass was awesome!

Well, we'll see what awaits us in the biggest cave system in the US.  I'm suspecting bats. Surprised

Caverns

They are called the Linville Caverns, I think.  Loved them!  I think it's NC's only caverns?  Where in SC did you guys visit?  I'm from SC originally.....

Thanks, Fake Frenchie!

I'm probably going to suffer a little bit of eharl-withdraw - LOL.  But I plan on having as much fun as I can. I'm going armed with bug repellent and a first aid kit.  Laughing

Linville Caverns?

I'll look it up on the web.  It's probably in a different section of the state than we were in.  We're always on the lookout for new places to visit.

We went to Camden SC.  It was fairly warm there even in December.  My DH is a history buff and so we visited the revolutionary war ground and museum there.  Also we toured some of the antebellum houses, and did our normal antique scouting.  My daughter actually likes to do these things too, but on our way back up we stopped in the Smokies, in Pigeon Forge, and took her to some of the kids attractions there so she'd feel she had her share of entertainment.  And since it was Christmas, stopped at the awesome everything-is-Christmas store in Pigeon Forge.  Our vacations are a little on the eclectic side - lol!  This one is definitely more of a 'back to nature' kind.  Smile

SC

I grew up in Columbia, which isn't far from Camden.  I miss SC a lot although Florida is a lot of fun.

I guess I need to go see some caves...

We have Carlsbad Caverns nearby but I haven't made it there yet. My boys are big enough now so I will probably be the one whining.

Amanda, make sure you put up some pictures for us gals.

Vacation

Hope you have a great time

Back....

Well, I'm back, Fake Frenchie, Angel, Debbie and Christa!  I had a terrific time, but it's nice to be home again.  I've been sooooo busy since I've returned, still helping out with the flood disaster fundraisers, which will ongoing for a while.

Anyway, I didn't get very good pics of the caves (too dark), but I did get some great outside shots.  I posted one with DD on another of my blogs.

Thanks, guys!  TTYL Wink
