Six books on the go

This is a comment by my interim boss (I'm on loan to another company this week) who gave this as her explanation to why she doesn't want to borrow any English language books at this time

My reply was "so you'll be finished them by tomorrow evening" Innocent Smile

but No, she started two of the six when she was on holidays

LAST summer Surprised

I can't imagine a book long enough that I'd still be reading it twelve months later Surprised Cry, unless we were talking about War and Peace in V.O. (when I haven't yet learned Russian Embarassed)

There doesn't seem to be much point in inviting HER to join the Challenge, does there?

I might work on her just the same

Got to go to bed, there's a book calling my name Kiss

That's a LONG time.

I can see it taking a while to finish a book.   A book could be either  long or you would have a lot going on.  But still, last summer.  By that time I would think you would lose the thread of any storyline the book was about, forget the characters, and feel like you should just start all over anyway. Use the talents you have, for the woods would by silent if no birds sang except the best. (from a flip inspiration book-'Thoughts for my daughter')

Now that sounds like

Now that sounds like something Ken used to do, although it took him that long for just one book...till my reading rubbed off on him and he got hooked. I could never understand how he could even enjoy reading the same book in such spits and spurts, for so long.

Started last summer and

Started last summer and still not read?  I've got a number of those on my shelves, but I classify them as DNF (Did Not Finish).

didn't quite finish at lunch yesterday, one I mislaid yesterday evening, one I'd started in McDonald's at lunchtime, one I'd started before I remembered the previous two, and one I started at work last week when my computer crashed (it took five or ten minutes to reboot and I got 23 pages read) that I haven't quite got back to

But as you'll note, the oldest is only a week old Innocent and I did forget it at work so wasn't able to continue it the same evening

I used to have 3-4 books

I used to have 3-4 books running along at the same time. I would have different books in the process of being read in different rooms, but I eventually gave up and started carting the book I was reading from room to room. (That's cause I now need to cart reading glasses with me.)Undecided

More than...

Having more than 1 book going at a time just doesn't work for me!  That said, yes I have done it!!  Left a book somewhere, started another, forgot to put my book in the bag when I was leaving for work so borrowed a book to read at lunch!!!  Surprised  Yep, we've all done it!  Now, I just take my book along with me from room to room & usually with me when I leave the house because you never know when you will have a few minutes to read! Smile  Reading, one of life's true treasures. Cool

Take care, happy reading,
