Okay. I've never posted a blog like this before. My name is Michele, my friends called me Shell or Shelly.
I'm 37 years old and live in Upstate, New York. I used to be a dancer, in fact still love all things dance. With dance because of the dance school I went to, came singing. I can carry a tune...But haven't done so in a looong time. LOL!!! I love rock music. Especially Bon Jovi and lately Motley Crue thanks to some friends of mine.
In between piano lessons, dance lessons and singing lessons, I think at around 12 or so I wrote my first short story. I enjoyed it so much that I kept on writing, especially during and after class.
It was when my English teacher took my composition notebook from me one day that I was that maybe...there was something there. I seriously thought I was going to get detention after he made me stay late after class when I got caught, but it was to encourage me to keep on writing. He had read a chapter of the story I had written called. "Sara's Song" at the time and loved it.
From that point on, he at the end of the week would request the chapters I wrote during the week and he would critique them. Some weeks good and as we all know some weeks not to good.
But the experience was good one. After high school unfortunately, I let it get away from me with the exception of my writing assignments from school.
I did finish Sara's Song and it was going to be published by a group I think called Carlton Press, but my mom thought it was wayyyy too young and wanted me to learn a little bit more about life before I submitted anything else.
This is where things get odd. I loved the writing of pro wrestling. I think because it was ongoing. Sara's Song was supposed to be ongoing and it always made me curious on how men could write something like that while also being physcial week after week.
So I followed pro wrestling and literally during college became an expert. In fact, became such an expert that I started to write a column for brief period of time for Les Thatcher's radio show website, called "The Other Side" . I also wrote for some other pro wrestling websites and eventually got asked because of my journalism background, to co-host a radio show called Wrestling Informer Weekly, with some great friends of mine.
During that time, in between work...I wrote a couple of screenplays and produced and wrote a local pro wrestling show that aired very late and very briefly on our former UPN affiliate
Learned a lot. Learned especially what not to do. I missed writing. But was so rusty with everything that I did write over the last year, that I decided to give it one last try.
I have a good day job....But I love the way you can create characters and have them do things that you normally wouldn't do....
I'm trying my hand at a Nocture Bite....Although i think now, the reason why it isn't working is because it probably should be longer...Oh well...I'll keep plugging away.....
I also have a blog site that I'm writing Fan Fiction on...I only started writing Fan Fiction this year.
Feel free all of you and visit...Some of you already have been there since I told you about it in chat!!

My plan is to write something everyday. Whether if it's a page or two. The more you do it, the better at it you become.
Okay...I've rambled enough.... Don't normally ramble like this....So the rest of my posts will probably be shorter!!
Writing away!!

Hi Chele - welcome to the community
I've never submitted anything to anyone but I write when I run out of reading material (which isn't that often any more!)
Hope you have fun in here - will you be joining the 100,000 book challenge?

Hi Shell
This is weird. How offen do you run into a person who spells their first name the same. I'm Michele also, and have the same nicknames. Only my relatives call me Shelly though. Nice meeting you
