Garden Progress report, and Same Time Next Summer!

SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER.jpg

Well, it's officially July!!  My garden is totally taking off.  The corn will have no problem being knee-high by the fourth of July!  And you'll see we did some more 'stoning' last weekend around the red maple.  Those were huge stones that replaced landscaping timbers!  (Pics are in following posts.)

July also means my first SuperRomance is available here at eHarlequin (it's everywhere else in August).  Romantic Times Bookclub gave it a 4 1/2 star review and said, "Best friends Carolyn Kendal and Stephen Foster get a second chance at love after Carolyn's young daughter, Emma, severely injured in a car accident and expected to die, recovers and thrives. Having Stephen around to help her believe that the impossible was possible allowed Carolyn to never give up hope. Holly Jacobs' Same Time Next Summer (4.5) is a well-written, touching story about rekindled love and the power of friendship."

Now, you're wondering, where's the connection between Holly's stoning habits and her release.  But there is one.  The landscaping I've been doing this summer has a lasting quality.  Those stones I placed with such care will be here for years.  And though a series book only has a month (well, two months counting it's prerelease here at eHarlequn) shelf-life, the story will stay with me.  It's become part of me.  New books I write will be built on the things I've learned writing Same Time Next Summer.  Books are like kids...each one teaches you something new.  This one, for me, taught me how much I believe in belief.  The heroine's belief that her daughter is coming back to her.  The hero's belief that the heroine will come back to him, too!

How am I going to celebrate the book's release?  Probably by weeding the garden.  Yep, I know what you're thinking...slow down Holly...you're so wild and crazy!  LOL

Hope it's a good one for all of you!

Holly

Maple

See those big stones around the maple?  I spent my Saturday hauling them in, placing them...then we got another yard of mulch.  My dh says I'm shut off from mulch now, but seriously, I adore the stuff.  Yes, it's dirty and smells, but it cuts down on the weeds and looks sooo nice!

Back

And here's some more of this weekend's stoning.  The pine tree and ivy are now stoned in.  You can see the back of our fence...we're putting the fence up, too. We're working down the side yard this summer!

I'd really like you to visit

I'd really like you to visit me.  *sigh*  You and your stoner ways would be a big help in my yard. *sigh* No one ever wants to do my dishes, and no one ever wants to do my edgework in the garden. *sigh*  Wink

Holly....

You piqued my curiosity, and so I just added your book to my shopping cart.  I like the Everlasting Romances.  It's nice to read about a fictional couple beyond where a lot of romances end.  Call me old-fashioned but I still like to think that marriage and love is forever!  Speaking of which, my 13th wedding anniversary is coming up on the fifteenth.  Thirteen is my DH's lucky number. LOL.  We're always a little out-of-the-norm.

Anyway, your rock creativity is nice!  Landscaping is hard work, so I commend you!

There must be few greater pleasures in life than to see one's 'baby' in published format and into the hands of others!  Again, congratulations!  You deserve the kudos!  And I can't wait to read your book! Smile

Fake Frenchie....

I find I have the same problem!  LOL Laughing

Frenchie,  Hey, I don't mind doing dishes either!!  LOL  I'm an all-around houseguest!  Amanda, Thanks so much for adding Same Time Next Summer to your shopping cart.  I loved working in the Everlasting format.  You're right, love is more than just falling in love.  Congrats on the 13th anniversary!  We just celebrated 25!  Making it work, year after year, is hard, but loving someone is worth it!  Oh, and thanks for the landscaping kudos!  I'm so jazzed by how it's turning out!! LOL Holly.  If only

LOL Holly.  If only someone like you would come to visit me.  But, no, I only get my family who spend their time looking for MacDonald's and EuroDisney.

Say, does you DH do any timber framing and roofing? If so, I'd send you both a ticket to come and visit?Wink Talk about proftiable guests!!Innocent

Visiting Frenchie!

Well, knowing our love of all things Disney, EuroDisney would be something we'd like.  But you'd get top billing!  LOL  Hey, beating out Mickey is no small thing!

No, my dh hasn't done timber framing.  Ask me about roofing next year.  We're going to try our garage ourselves.

Love the stonework

Hi I just love your stonework. Gardening and getting your hands in dirt is really satisfing. Notice a lot of readers have gardening listed a a hobby. I will be getting your book.  My husband and I celebrate our 40th anniversary in August and yes it takes work and a great husband who puts up with me and my reading.

40 Years!!

Kaelee,

 Happy Anniversary!!  40 years!  That's a milestone!  That's fantastic!

And thanks for the garden comments.  I'll confess, I don't love gardening.  Bugs.  Dirt.  Sun.  But I really love the results!

And thanks for watching for my book, too!  I really appreciate it, and hope you like it. My website's tagline used to be HollyJacobs.com...Where Love is a Laughing Matter.  When I started doing more serious books, I added, Except When It's Not.  This is not a laughing matter book! <g>
