Nocturne Coffee Chat at RWA Nationals

Attending RWA Nationals and interested in Nocturne/Nocturne Bites?

Several of us on the Nocturne thread have been chatting about getting together to meet informally for coffee and networking while in San Francisco for RWA Nationals -- please join us!  I'm creating this blog so we have a separate spot to post details about the coffee as we get closer to Nationals.

RSVP:  our wonderful Community Manager, Jayne, has offered to help organize and round up people, so please email Jayne to indicate your interest.  She will then create an Evite.

LOCATION:  is TBD (depending on # of people interested), but will likely be at a local cafe like Peet's Coffee.  We are looking for a cafe within a few blocks of the RWA conference hotel.

TIME/DATE:  Thursday, July 31 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Jayne, you're wonderful!

I will absolutely be there, and I'm sure Jules will be as well. There were several others interested, as well... but this thread's kinda hard to find :S

I'll nag. Should we set a date, though? Maybe... early Wednesday morning? Like, 8? Let me know guys!

A little birdie told me that Thurs or Fri might be better... come on, people, let's get this going!

Also, if enough people come, my agent might be willing to come check out the action as well :)

Lauren,

That's so amazing -- please thank her from us.

I'll double-check the RWA conference schedule over the weekend -- not sure whether the Thursday or Friday is more viable for people.

We should (gulp!) probably plan it to be on the early side, so it doesn't conflict with people getting to events.

This is so exciting!

Count me in!!

Wed. morning's better for me, as I have something on Thurs. nith and Fri. nite, but I will try to be flexible.  And I'll also probably have one of my roomies with me.  She's a conference virgin, so I'm dragging her wherever I go.  If I don't she might stay locked in the room the whole time and I'm not letting her do that!!

And thanks, Jayne, for offering to take on the organization of this!

Fellow ehar peeps and now possibly agents and editors...I'm SO considering flying in for a night.

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel or do I just have tunnel vision from staring at the computer screen so long?

That would be super cool

So close yet so far away, sigh...LOL

I'm right here on the dang west coast -so close yet so far. :-) I so wish I could do RWA this year, but I can't get the airfare and hotel $$$ together. How dare my sister move from Cali back to Jersey? I could have stayed with her.  LOL.

It's hard to scrape the

It's hard to scrape the cash together on short notice- trust me, if the man wasn't so supportive (read: helping me pay), I wouldn;t be going. Just remember, there is always next year... and the year after that. RT in Orlando in April, RWA in DC in July. Sirens and Scribes will all be published for sure by then! :P

Lauren- You know it! I

Lauren- You know it!

I feel you guys on the monetary deficiency. I did a last minute scraping together of some funds to make an appearance. It's hotdogs and hamburgers for dinner this month. lol

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel or do I just have tunnel vision from staring at the computer screen so long?

$$$

LOL, the last $100 of my conference fee was actually an anniversary gift from my DH this year (after I saved the rest in dribs and drabs) -- I feel everyone's pain!

Just as a heads-up, RWA does a raffle each day of the event for admission to next year's conference as an incentive for their volunteers.  All you have to do is sign up for a 2-5 hour volunteer commitment during conference -- they will draw a name each day from among the volunteers.  There are still volunteer slots open -- check out their site for more info.

I'm looking into locations for the coffee -- will post back by COB Thursday with a spot!!!

Nocturne coffee at Nationals -- location imminent

Hi everyone -- just a quick note that we tentatively have a location for the Nocturne coffee.

I need to hear back from the cafe manager that they can seat 12-15 people and to clear it with Jayne -- and then we're all set!

More news coming soon, I hope!    Cool
