Submission Care Group 4

If you sell a manuscript, please email Dee at laideebug@gmail.com

Are you a writer who is sending out queries and synopsis to HARLEQUIN / SILHOUETTE left and right, hoping and praying that someone will request your work for consideration and hopefully publication? Are you going crazy with the interminable wait? Most importantly, is your mailman afraid to come all the way to the front door?

If so, please tell us the following:

• Date you submitted:
• To whom you submitted:
• How long you've been waiting:
• Full, partial or query letter:

As extra incentive, we congratulate ourselves on each hard earned query send off and month waited with these Cyber Rewards.

Please keep us updated as to your progress.

Great another new

Great another new room. Good luck to all who have sub's out. Hopefully we'll have some good news to celebrate soon.Smile

Sperinkling and tossing fairy dust around for all those submissions.

My 10th book for HMB H was titled today (I knew it had been accepted several weeks ago) -- IMPOVERISHED MISS, CONVIENENT WIFE -- it does not seem that long ago I was biting my nails in subcare...

Congrats on your 10th

Congrats on your 10th Michelle!!!!!

Inspiring!

You ladies are very inspiring. I can't wait to finish my Nocturne manuscript and send it off so I can officially join subcare!

I'm giggling at the Canadian and American discussions. I'm American, but I live in Canada (my hubby's Canadian) so I get the best of both worlds. I still can't get used to how early Thanksgiving is in Canada...and I get kinda homesick around the 4th of July. Someone light a sparkler for me, eh?

Above is a link for people attending RWA Nationals -- a group of us who are interested in or currently write for Nocturne are trying to get together for an informal networking coffee.  If you're attending Nationals and interested in Nocturne, hope you can join us!

Michelle, glad to hear your good news -- congrats on the 10th!     Cool

Another Regency

Yes, Impoverished Miss, Convienent  Wife is another Regency. It is the sequel to A Question of Impropriety. It was the first time I have a  duo rather than simply linked books.

My third Viking is currently sitting on my editors' desks waiting to be read. Ifigure it will be several weeks yet and so am busy working away on the H M&B H as I have promised that to my editor for the end of September. The habits I learnt before I was published have held me in good stead.  I think in this business that it is useful to be a self starter.

Hugs to those who need them and congrats to any who havereceived good news.

A Whatsitnow?

Self Starter?  I wanted one for my truck but dh said it was too old a model so couldn't be installed.  So yeah, every day I have to go out, put the key in the ignition and turn it.  It's a pain, I tell ya'.  I'm sure that's why I have carpul tunnel...

Uhm, that *is* what you meant, right Michelle??  Wink

Bren

actually no

Not wnat I meant at all, Bren.

I know a sizable portion of  published authors who can not settle down to the next project until they have heard about the first project. Or until everything is done on the project. Or until they have the okay on the proposal/partial. This can cause difficulties if the editorial response is delayed for some reason.

Not being able to let go can be a problem and can impact productivity. As a published author keeping up your productivty and meeting deadlines, particularly contracted deadlines is paramont.

You have to trust that your knowledge of craft is such that whatever the editor sees, you will be able to fix.

In this business because authors are self employed, the vast majority of the time, no one is going to have your business uppermost in their mind. There are a lot of things you have to do for yourself and sometimes the distractions mount up.

In other words, self discipline really helps in this business. The habits you learn as an unublished writer (good and bad) will impact later on.  So try for discipline early on. And the ability to concentrate on the next ms does take a lot of discipline.

Thank you Michelle W for

Thank you Michelle S for your words of wisdom and congratulations on the sale.   It is wonderful to hit a milestone!

Finally got my R

Who waits for big Rs?  ME!  20 weeks almost straight on I got my R from M&B.  No surprise.  First submit and the minute it went out the door I wasn't happy with it.  Ya know!  Then I submitted that same story to contests got feed back, resubmitted got perfect scores... but what sat at M&B was a synopsis that was so/so with the first few chapters that had already been reworked.  Then I wasn't sure that was really the best line.  SO... knew it would come back, but was just waiting so I could move forward with other MSs to the right lines :)  SO... fingers crossed.  Lots of work to do before conference.  WOW only 3 weeks away.  Can't wait!

Bernadette, hugs on the 'R'.

Bernadette, hugs on the 'R'. So glad to hear that you are looking forward with other ms's. Good luck with them.

I have been in lurk mode the past couple of weeks, but I have read majority of the posts.  I wish everyone the best of luck on their submissions.

(((Bernadette))) R's are never easy but there are times I have been a tad relieved when I received them because I had decided the line was not quite the line for me, or I had wrote something better.  So I hear you, and admire your great attitude.

Hugs Bernadette!

That's a great attitude to have...i'm waiting for my very first response back, be it an R or a Whoohoo!  I'm not too worried about it being rejected.  I think i'm more afraid of it coming back and it being accepted.  I know...weird.

Sorry!

Bernadette, I'm sorry about your r too.  Any r's I recieve are always "lower case".  Call me anal but I think of "upper case" as acknowledgment that it deserves high credit.  While some r's come with fab comments, an r is an r.

Michelle, sincerely hope I didn't offend you by my post.  It was an attempt at a joke but seems to have fallen flat.  Please know that I have read every word you've posted with interest and have great respect for you and your accomplishments.

Hugs for the r Bernadette.... :( ...but you're approaching it with the right attitude I think.

I always have so many things going on. I honestly think i would be impossible for me to wait for a response. I HAVE to keep going...even if I never sell a single ms it's a need I have to write...lest I begin talking to myself uncontrollably and turn into Virginia Wolf. I think that's why my dh is so supportive...he doesn't want that either.

I'm picking up a platinum mourning ring for my Presents full that was rejected a couple of weeks ago CryTrying to look on the bright side, the ed said I'm very close (still Undecided), and my writing has real potential, and she has every faith in me. So I'm trying to hang on to that and work on two major things she pointed out.

Oh, and I also get to pick up a purple heart and medal of bravery for sending in another full, requested from the Instant Seduction comp, last week.  Smile
