Wedding Plans gone Amuck

The best laid plans of mice and men... well, my plans aren't even on the level of being good. If ignorance is bliss, well, I think I'm the most bliss-full individual on the planet. I think I'll be better when I finally get all the invites off for the US Postal service to deliver.

Of course, it would help if I didn't lose the folder with the address lists. Or, lose my cell phone with all the phone numbers I've never quite gotten around to writing down elsewhere... or backing up the info electronically. Perhaps all the moving boxes that make my fiance's home look like it threw up cardboard is complicating things since I've only just moved in (rental agreement up, only one month 'til nuptuals...)

On a bright note: the invites look fairly nifty, IMHO. I drew a cartoon of the pair of us in our scuba gear, since we met on the dive boat (a match made asea...)

here's the pic:

So, wedding stuff moves on. I'm on a brief break because the printer is being a pest about spewing my labels out correctly. I will be getting these out before Monday...

Hey Deb, call me dumb, but I hadn't realized you were getting married.

MUCHO CONGRATULATIONS, EH!!!

That's wonderful. Please tell me the scuba divers are a likeness of you and your guy. They're adorable.

yep. getting married, hadn't really been broadcasting it though... been preoccupied i guess.

the pix ARE supposed to be rough likenesses of the both of us. i always wear my hair in braids to keep it from getting too wacky or providing fish with something to nibble.

Writer2b....

I saw sometime back on your profile page that you were planning to get married.  Congratulations!  And I think your pic is really cute!  You did an excellent job.  Are you a professional artist?  Oh, and I wanted to asked about your medium?  Is it solely computer generated?  It looks a little like watercolor and ink, but I can't tell for sure (blame it on my computer screen).  Smile

Deb - congrats on your upcoming wedding

In my experience it's actually "normal" to want to call off the wedding at least once a month in the year up to the wedding, to feel like nothing will ever be done in time and to want to strangle the town hall employees who keep coming up with ways to annoy you

But whether it be during the months of preparation or on the day itself, remember that it's YOUR day and you're making the memories that the rest of your life will be built on, and funnily enough it's not the perfect days we remember, it's the days when everything that could go wrong did and the laughter and friends that got us through those days, so good luck with the printer (really cute invitations by the way) and with everything else, and I hope you have a great day that you look back on with great thoughts for the rest of your life

thanks all

i appreciate the kind words and encouragement. while some stuff has been frustrating, i'm already having a good laugh over things with my sister-in-law, who along with my birth mother, is doing the major worry stuff for me.

i know it's OUR day (mine & fiance's), and we plan to enjoy it. i'm looking forward to the fancy hotel room where i get him all to myself for a couple days *yay*

and yes... i'm a graphic artist by trade. i like drawing things in pencil and scanning into the computer for colorizing. that's what i did with my invite. it's amazing what a little knowledge of photoshop can produce...

Grats on the wedding!

 Hi:

Grats on the wedding!  We may have the same anniversary depending on your date. Loved your art. Great background. Are your invitations in color? Can’t wait to see how being married affects your writing!  Happy day!

Thanks,

Vince

Deb....

LOL, Deb!  I can relate to that! Wink

Oh, and have fun picking out your dress.  There's so many awesome choices... and yet it can be daunting trying to find the 'perfect' one.  But you will.  Be sure to post a wedding pic here on eHarl.  We're all big romance fans (of course)!  And there's just something about weddings....  Smile

Congrats Deb!

I so love weddings.

Is there one thing your hubby- to- be wants in the ceremony? The only thing my husband cared about was the cake topper- he wanted a bride and groom but the style at the time was to have real flowers on the tiers. Well, I went with what everyone else told me to do and I regret not having the traditional topper.

Keep chanting that it is your day and you'll start to believe it! And as Amanda said, pictures if you feel like sharing.

Congrats!

We had an awful rehearsal, but the day went off without a hitch, and we really had fun.  We have lots of little stories of stuff that happened that made our day ours....I wish the same for you, Deb!

My mum is being married August 2.  I have had a good laugh with her.  When my sisters and I got married we all got that "what we should do" thing from the parents.  And did the whole "our day" thing.  LOL.  Now it's her turn.  I got on her case about booking the church early - it is after all a long weekend here.  And then they weren't going to have a reception and boy oh boy did I give her a hard time...and we had a laugh too about what goes around....kind of like when parents tell you they hope you have kids just like you.  :-)

But mostly I think it's wonderful for her - she's 75 and has been widowed for nearly 20 years.

Here's to many happy anniversaries for you and your husband-to-be.
