Food or drink pleasures to go with a good book...

To me there is nothing better than some really good chocolate or coffee to go with a good book. I don't eat piles of chocolate but a few just always make the pleasure of reading even better. So does anyone else have a favorite food or drink they love to indulge in along with your fantasy getaway? Some tea? Coffee? Chocolate?

For me, a good book, a hot

For me, a good book, a hot summer day, a chaise lounger, an icy cold beer and some tortilla chips and salsa.  Perfect.  Of course, two minutes into that, my two kids come up and ruin the quiet and eat my chips, but it is a nice dream.  Wink

For me, a hot cup of tea...

Can't pass up reading a book with a soothing cup of tea, and more waiting for me. :)

A bit of chocolate or if I'm good, a bit of fruit...

Favorite thing is to have one of my kitties on my lap, purring away, until their tail gets in my way.. :)

Tea for me

In the winter time a nice cup of tea or two is my choice but I will sometimes opt for a glass of wine but only if I'm not too tired. In the summer I just like a big glass of cold water. My food of choice is grapes because they are not messy to eat but I must confess my greatest treat is to fill the bath tub up and sit in it until I have to add more hot water or Freeze. I haven't dropped a book in yet but have come close when one of my cats decides to help me read.

Cats and beer

Cady, beer and salsa w/chips is different! I love that combo haven't tried it with reading though. Beer would help with relaxing. Cats, make great reading companions mine usually lays beside me. But if i have a heavy hard back that I can't lay down with he decides the book makes a good sleeping spot..not good! Fruit is good when Im trying to cut calories especially strawberries and grapes mixed not too messy. (unless I get the grapes with seeds yuck!) Kaelee, I give you kudos for not dropping your books I know I would have by now I'm a klutz at times. lol @ your cats though!

Wine, red, and a comfy

Wine, red, and a comfy chair.  If I'm not into wine, it's Irish Breakfast tea.  I refuse to read in the tub or pool as I'm horribly afraid of dropping the book!  But I do love sitting on the deck, now that we have one.

I think my new fave spot though, when I'm alone will be the new futon in my office, and a cup of hot tea.  I'm looking forward to autumn days and doing just that.

I'd read tonight but I have beans and peas to clean and 11 boxes of berries yet to stem!  Ack!

Re my cats

When my youngest cat was a small 2.2 pound kitten he would climb onto my chest in the bathtub. I was cool with this until he got scared and left mutitude bleeding scars across some delicate parts. I didn't drop the book then even.  He is now 17 pounds and still the biggest chicken around. He only gets to drink the bath water nowadays. He is a great help when I read as he likes to insert himself between my book and my face and give me licks on the nose to keep me awake.

Another non messy snack is stringless snow peas. Really refreshing in the heat.

Food and books...

I've been trying to drink more Dasani water with my reading but Coke is still what goes best for me.  I don't really have a fave food to go with my books since I'll read when eating just about anything.

Well, I've to admit ...

Depend on my mood & the time of day, my choice of drinks (not in any order): hot tea, soda-lots of ice, ice cold beer, cold cold white wine, red wine(once a while)

I seldom have snacks when I read (because I could keep grazing), but when I do: chips & salsa, cheese & crackers.

But when I start reading mystery(murder) stories, I am embarass Embarassed to say, I could start biting my nails.  To stop me from doing that (I could chew up all ten nails), I put nail polish on first, then it would be a shame to ruin the good look.  Tongue out

Orchid

Orchid

Lipton's Green Tea with Citrus ... yum .... refreshing with just enough sweetness :)    ..... or I'll make iced coffee  and flavour it with some irish cream  :)

now snacking .... only finger foods .... cheese & crackers are good ... yes, chocolate though not a common occurance  .... less salt Lays potatoe chips (love the less salt chips you can actually taste the potatoe!)

In my fantasy world...

I could sit and write or read and have a Pepsi at my side all day (or a Starbucks Black Tea Lemonade), but I try to keep sugary drinks to a minimum and drink only water all day after morning coffee, which sucks! LOL I wish sugary drinks weren't such a no-no! As it is, I only have Pepsi when we go out to eat, and maybe one Starbucks a week...

snacks and drinks while reading

for snacks it's finger foods so I can keep flipping pages, then food can't be greasy so cheese and crackers are great, plus I can take them outside and sit on the balcony on the lounger. For drinks I usually have coffee in the mornings, but I get so absorbed in the book that the coffee goes cold. Later at night sometimes a glass of cold white or white wine with ginger ale(so I can gulp instead of sipSmile) or at times banana or pineapple flavoured Malibu rum with 7Up and ice.

Christa - Have you tried

Christa - Have you tried white wine with Fresca?  I don't drink wine much anymore as my hubby doesn't so then the bottle waits for me to finish it.  But I enjoy the Fresca cooler.

Everything here sounds soo

Everything here sounds soo good! Sam, Same with me with the sugary drinks I try to stay clear of them as often as possible. My coffee has flavored creamers in it but I only drink that 2x a day. I wish sugary drinks weren't such no nos! Undecided christa_r, that banana or pineapple flavoured Malibu rum with 7Up and ice sounds soo good! I don't always indulge in alcoholic beverages even though I want to they are such no nos! as well plus sometimes they get me hyper depending on the drink.

Another non-alcholic

Another non-alcholic treat...

A friend intro'd this to me and I adore it.

Toss in a few frozen raspberries (or other berry) in bottom of glass. Top off with white grape juice. Let it sit for a few minutes and eeeeeenjoy..

The raspberries add a little extra kick to the juice.. yum!

at night

i love to pick up a book a few hrs before i want to sleep and turn off the lights put on the book light and forget about the day.  if before bed i read it is dc and mmsCool

My best friend is a person who will give me a book that i have not read yet.
Abraham Lincoln

My favorite drink right now

My favorite drink right now is Diet Vanilla Cherry Dr. Pepper.  After that, iced tea and Minute Maid makes this nice raspberry passion fruit drink.  I love coffee but the older I get, the less my body tolerates caffeine (even decaf wires me  Cry ). Food depends.  Some blogger outthere got me addited to Lay's Sour Cream and Cheddar potato chips which I had not even tried until I read that blog.   Mostly I like a huge glass of soda packed with ice more than food.  I read a lot late at night so food is less of an attraction when reading.
