We all scream for ice cream!!!
No really - this has recently been something of a dead zone.
You all know I love discussions... and ice cream/gelato/desserts are some of my favorite things on earth. Probably top 10.
I recently got an ice cream maker for my birthday, but it's slow going. I've now made 3 things - strawberry lemon frozen yogurt, green tea ice cream, and salty caramel ice cream [it's not actually sweet and savory]. No... I'm not ambitious at all. >.< I really should have stuck with vanilla. [Oh - I did make a vanilla frozen yogurt, but it was a minimal amount].
Are you passionate about ice cream? Jeni's Ice Cream is the best ice cream I've had in my life. Dolce Zza -a gelateria that serves Argentinian gelato is one of the best gelato places I've been to. I miss them constantly.
Have you ever made ice cream? Have an ice cream maker? Do you cook and do all that? Am I crazy like my friends tell me - and should I just buy ice cream from the store? Pre-made? :P
So? Desserts? Yes? No? From scratch or ready to eat?
GO GO GO!

from scratch
I prefer things from scratch cause then you know what ingredients are in there and it won't be filled with all tghese sugars, additives, preservatives and artificial flavours. You can make the flavour you want.I think in the long run it might be cheaper. I don't have an ice cream maker but last year for my birthday my sister got me a Magic Bullet which is great for smoothies and shakesbecause the cup is the blender container. I prefer cooking in the oven or toaster oven to the microwave. The Microwave is great for reheating some thing but I don't like food that's been cooked in there.
Lately instead of buying ice cream I get frozen yogurt. Mmm tonight sounds like a great night for some chocolate frozen yogurt

Chocolate?
Christa - I'm about making things from scratch too. (Haha, I've had a post about that - somewhere in the archives).
I was very successful with my strawberry lemon frozen yogurt. Chocolate? I don't think I've ever had chocolate frozen yogurt. Interesting - is it tart?
Mmm... I love frozen yogurt. And it's easier to make. I've considered the magic bullet- but I have a "smoother blender" - so that works well. Just a bit more labor intensive with cleanup.
frozen yogurt
This is a double chocolate frozen yogurt and it isn't tart but it's not overly sweet either. I was really surprised at all the flavours frozen yogurt comes in.
I'd send you some but it would melt

Hahaha
Yes, yes it would.
Hm... I think I need to look into some chocolate frozen yogurt recipes. That sounds delicious!
Especially because I'm stressed out, trying to find old Diana Palmer books. [Then again, what's new?]
Diana Palmer
These last 44 are stressing me out. Send me a list and if I come across one or an extra I can grab it, at least the book won't melt

Hey girls!
You might find some Diana Palmer books on www.paperbackswap.com. I find lots of backlisted books there.
Hugs,
Chy

Christa
Thanks - I'll do that.
Chy
Thanks for the advice - I do know about PBS - and a few other sites. Unfortunately PBS and I are having problems - ah well. I just bought 2 more DP books from half.com yesterday.
Finally! I found the post!
I couldn't find this for anything. I just posted that I'd share my Diana Palmer's with you if I have any that you need.

Another way I have found Chy
If you go onto your profile page you can see where you have made a comment and this should jog your memory.

That's a good idea, Christa.
I will have to remember to do that from now on. And that's exactly how I found the older post I had made, by going onto my profile page and finding where I had posted.

Yay!
Christa, Chy and Kaelee,
Woohoo! It always makes me so happy to see members helping each other out. And, that it happens here so I can see it and learn. Good call on the "favorites" and checking the profile. [I always forget that, and do all sorts of crazy searches.]
And Chy I think I managed to stalk you over to PBS... I didn't notice any DP books - did I hit the wrong profile? :) Also, I just friended you here.
I did find your friend request!
I may not have any DP on my bookshelf at PBS at the moment. I know I have some in some boxes though. I'm about to start unpacking all the boxes since the painting is finished! Yippee!!! At least in my office...now I have to paint the hallway and kitchen and then all except one bedroom will have been painted in the last year! I've lived here 16 years, that's never happened before!
I have to get some boxes of books unpacked tonight, the electrician is coming tomorrow to install new light fixtures and ceiling fans, he can't even get to one of them!
Hugs,
Chy

Woohoo!
As for the painting, Chy - my goodness, what a project! Hopefully it all gets done quickly! Paint fumes are not my friend - of course I haven't painted in ages -and I see those commercials for paint that is "scentless" or fume-free. Hmm...
Aliquis
I don't know about scentless paint, but I really haven't noticed paint fumes at all since I finished. I am prone to migraines from strong fumes, and this didn't bother me at all. I bought it at Walmart.

Interesting
Chy - that's great! I haven't ad to paint anything in a while... but I have bad reactions to paint too, so it's good they've made these new developments.
painting
when I recently painted my place, the paint fumes weren't bad either the paint only took like 1-2 hours to dry and I was able to sleep in my bad that night and since it is an apartment there was only 1 window in the bedroom and a sliding balcony door/window. We bought paint at Canadian Tire and my sister got the paint for the living room and front hall at Benjamin Moore.

Huh - how interesting! Good to know about paint. And how convenient! The last time I painted was when we moved, and I suffered. (it was a number of year ago.)
