I think...
That this is going to be a wild ride! I wonder where the murderer went? Is he still in the building or does he know another way out?
Interesting Start
This is off to an interesting start, though this thread was a bit difficult to find.

Sorry about that!
I just checked the link and not sure what's going on with it. I'll see what can be done about getting it updated.
And yes, great start to the story!
Save the Date! You won't want to miss our annual open house event on December 11th!
Thanks Dream. Any idea
Thanks Dream. Any idea why the links are so hard to find? why dont' they take you directly to the discussion? they use to earlier this year. I searched all over after I read the story last night (we are 6 hrs behind board time) and couldn't find it.
It was great start to this story, but Kristin was a little foolish to even enter the apartment once she saw the damage... although I may have done the same if I saw a friend in a pool of blood.

It really sounds interesting!

RE: KEY WITNESS: CHAPTER 2
So, is the killer stalking somewhere in the apartment building? Does he have an apartment in the building? Is the perp a stranger to both lasses, or an unrequited love? Did he escape the building some other way? Hmmmmmm .....

That's scary that the guy got in through the fire escape and an apartment!
Hmmm, now I want tomorrow's chapter... wonder if that key opens a safe deposit box or locker somewhere... sounds like Sue was into something pretty deep...
Whomever fixed the discussion link, mahalo, mahalo, mahalo (thanks!). This is how it's suppose to work
I'm loving it!
This story is holding my attention like few others have, I love it! Glad they aren't treating her as a suspect... I do have to wonder what poor Sue got herself into!
And yes, thank you for fixing the link!
Very intriguing
I'm hooked so far! Can't wait to see how the relationship between the main characters develops and what Sue was into that cost her her life!

Wonder what Sue was on to that got her killed.
Really getting into this story so far.
Thanks so much for fixing the link! I couldn't get in here either.
Terri
I'm really enjoying this story! I can't imagine walking in to find a friend murdered. Kristin seems to be a very strong person. I'd have freaked, but she seems to have kept her head about her.
Only an hour to the next chapter!

Wow! I usually don' like suspense, but I'm being sucked into this story. Lucky that she found his picture. Now they will know a bit more about the guy.

Still a mystery
This story is still a mystery on many levels. I'm very curious about the key and how that ties in to whatever Sue was writing about.
Now I'm also wondering about Det. Howell's limp and what that means. Hmmm. Can't wait to start seeing some of the answers!

So glad
she found a picture of (who we assume is) the killer. If he's not the man who murdered her friend, maybe he might be able to help them get more info.
JV, I wondered, too, about his limp and the story behind it. Wasn't there a mention earlier in the story about a sister of his? It didn't sound like whatever happened to her ended well.
I wonder if we'll get a big cliffhanger for tomorrow....

Yes, why does Det.
Yes, why does Det. Howell have a limp? what happened to his sister?
I have a feeling that it is going to be a very very bad guy that she found the mug shot of ........ does this bad guy have anything to do with why Det. Howell has a limp or his sister?????

Questions, questions, and more questions
What was Sue into that got herself killed and how does the story she was writing and the key tie in?
Can't remember what was said about Andy and his sister, so I'll have to go back and read again.
It will be interesting to see this mystery unwind and how the characters develop. I agree. I think we're in for a wild ride.
uh-oh! Now what are they
uh-oh! Now what are they going to do? Seems like the food chain has just gotten shorter.

ACCK, wonder what happened to Charlie, did he hang himself or did someone help him?
Wonder if someone wants what is in the safe deposit box...
Groaning...
What a twist! So two-bit Charlie was dispensible, probably a weak link to shut up. Way to leave us hanging!
What is in Kristin's past that makes security and stability so important?
If this was a book, my family would be feeling very neglected until I read the whole thing! I'll have to see if the mini series is this good! Might have to keep them for a winter read or I won't get anything done!
i think...
i think that someone hired the identified man to take out sue.they found out that he didn't do it properly[that is being seen by kristin] so they had to take him out to cover their tracks.
kristal
Keeps getting deeper
Kristal, you may be right. Perhaps the bigger fish in this scenario took out the minnow because he flubbed it. Maybe he was supposed to get the key and do away with Sue, all without being spotted of course, and that's why he had to be eliminated.
Of course, we're all wondering about Andy's sister and about Kristin's past and why she so longs or security. The mystery just keeps getting deeper! So far I really like both main characters.

wow
Love this story so far. I wonder if all three things are connected somehow (Sue's murder, Kristin's need for stability and the detective's secret about his sister). Can't wait until Monday to find out what happens now that Charile's dead.
Just wondering why in the
Just wondering why in the blurb at the top of the discussion, Andy is referred to as Detective MIke Howell...
Just purchased Double Cross as an ebook since I find I like Terri's style and I like suspense! Figured I'd try a full length book. The other thing that caught me is the book is set in Hawaii and my dh is an orchid grower!
You're right, Papaya!
Andy is referred to as Detective Mike Howell at the top in the information section. I hadn't noticed that before.
Terri, what a way to leave us cliff-"hanging" over the weekend. Really looking forward to Monday now to see what's next. There are tons of questions that we'll have to wait to have answered. Sigh... Wish this was a full length story.
I do have to say that if you didn't have someone's attention before, you definitely will have it now.

Hey Hockey Jock, did you
Hey Hockey Jock, did you say something ? there's no message in your post.
Drugs and murder, there must be something in Sue's safety deposit box that holds the clue to who is involved. Wonder if it's someone in a position of authority...
So many mysteries!
This story is loaded with mysteries, and so far I think Terri is doing a great job of weaving them. We did get one answer -- or at least a partial answer. Kristin's parents were constantly travelling and, apparently, obsessing about the possibility of Kristin's being hurt. Hence, her need for security.
I'm still wondering about Andy's leg and the key and how Sue and the drugs all fit into the picture. And, as an added and perhaps unintended mystery, what's up with the H's name?
Is it Andy or is it Mike? Hmmm. (Maybe Michael Andrew?)

Play on words or something else?
And, okay, I'm a little slow on the uptake. I just noticed that the title is "Key Witness" and right now, at least, a key is a major piece of the puzzle. I always assumed the title referred to Kristin, but I wonder if it has multiple levels of meaning.

Could be...
I didn't think of that, but you're right, there's so many layers to this story.
Save the Date! You won't want to miss our annual open house event on December 11th!
JV and Dream, you could be right
Key Witness might be a play on words. Kristin arrived at Sue's place with the key: therefore, key and witness.
I'm wondering if Sue was writing a story about things going on in the underworld, and she got the attention of someone very high up on the ladder.
Another question I have, is what does the key have to do with Sue's grandmother? Also, why were the drugs and money in Linder's freezer?
Terri, you're driving us crazy here with all the possibilities.
A General Question.....
Hi ...
Got a generic question though related to stories / real-life ...
There are instances..where the H or h - feels clustered and want to stretch their wings, explore...and they do it..and if they realise it has no meaning..they come back to meaningful things.. which seems okay, understandable..
But take this story for instance.. where h has a deep rooted feeling about something (fears danger / insecure life)..and H is poles apart(as detective, by default exposed to some danger or other) and they realise they are attracted to each other in spite of differences..
And lets assume the ending to be.. "h" realises that her need for H is more than her fear of dangerous/insecure life.. they marry and live HEA !
As a read, i can be happy with the concept, story and characters..and of course the HEA ..but practically is it possible ?
My doubt comes here..how can a person with so strong feelings suddenly change ? i agree that "love" does change lots of ppl..but some inherent nature / fear / feelings cannot be so easily reversed or accepted... Later on.. this point may come up in their lives..and that time..the fear/nature/feeling may be higher than the acceptance ..
i mean, its possible..
Here is a real life story.. : My friend is "happily" married for about 5 years now..Both of them are working and her hubby feels very insecure reg his job and feels he cant stay in a single country for his career growth ..Though she was very interested in having a kid (unfortunately they have to go through IVF if they want a kid), she postponed for his sake..When I asked her.. "why dont u assert ur needs, cos u r missing something u love"..her answer was "well..if i do convince him now and have a kid, he may blame me later saying, u tied me down with kid, so am able to adjust being w/o kid than being blamed later" .......... Means, here the hubby may agree now..but "WHAT IF" he points this out as a mistake later !!
Though the stories are unique in its own way.. I tend to think that a strong feeling may come in way of life..in this online read "WHAT IF" later on in life our h realises that danger is not her cup of tea ..... ??
As I said before..this is generic ...pls feel free to let me know your thoughts on this....
Well, now we know why he
Well, now we know why he limps!
I'm not sure I'd want to be standing out in the hallway alone after witnessing a murderer then having my apt. broken into
Not a good idea to follow him in either though... not sure what I would do, but I'd be scared...
there sure are multiple layers to this story!
Deep question Anju...
And it has no right answer. Even if two people agree on everything, there is no guarantee of a HEA. Each person in your senarios needs to know what sacrifices they are willing to make. Your friend is wise to not push for children (IMHO). Her DH not only could blame her for holding him back, but may also blame and resent the child. Only she knows how much the sacrifice costs, and she appears willing to pay the price. In the case of this story, Kristin is starting to realize that there is no guarantee of security, and she does feel safe when she is with Andy. She may well be able to get past the fear that she feels and really enjoy her life. I feel that true love is not about what we have in common, but about how we handle the differences and the compromises that we are willing to make.
Lesser of the two dangers
I'm with you, papaya, about feeling insecure about standing out in the hall alone, but I guess it's the lesser of the two dangers since Andy seems to think an intruder may still be in her apt. Better to be in a more public place than alone in a private place with a potential murderer, though my first choice would be to remain miles away!
Northwind, you make an excellent point. Agreement on all things doesn't necessarily guarantee happiness down the road, and disagreement on many things doesn't necessarily predict dissatisfaction. I think the main thing is to truly know yourself: what you want and believe in and how strongly. Only then can you know how much or for how long you can compromise and still be happy.
My DH and I come from vastly different upbringings (from religion through extended family relations) and from somewhat different political camps. Early in our marriage, there were issues we had to work through, but we came to realize that most of our points of contention were in the superficial trappings. Underneath it all, the foundation of our beliefs and goals were pretty much the same, regardless of what we called them.
Anju, it could be that someday your friend's husband would resent her for "holding him back" with a child. On the other hand, it could be that some day she will resent him for the fact that she doesn't have a child (or as many children) as she truly wanted. That's why it's important that each of them knows how important his/her goals are compared to the importance of their relationship and how much they are each willing to compromise. HEA is possible, but usually it requires lots of talk and working together on issues as they arise.

We have 2 answers now
Why Kristin craves security and what happened to Andy to make him limp.
Now, there's another question being added to the equation. Who broke into Kristin's apartment and are they still there?
Andy and Kristin will have a lot of issues to work through before we can have our HEA.
Pretty sure they are after
Pretty sure they are after the key if they know about it... or maybe they are trying to find out where Sue hid whatever she hid.
That building is not so secure if they had 2 break ins and a murder within a matter of days... wonder if the bad guys live in the building! That would be scary. Seems to me she needs 24/7 protection right now. They are going to go after her for whateve Sue was hiding. Maybe that creep Charlie got greased because he murdered Sue before getting whatever she had on the bad guys! Lots and lots of questions. I"m glad this is a daily.
I like that Kristin came right out and told Andy she liked him!
NorthWind and JV
You both have nailed it on the head! Knowing yourself and what you want, then knowing how hard you're willing to fight for it is key.
I think the scariest thing in relationships is the fact that today, you may be in complete agreement with your spouse/SO that problems don't immediately arise. But later, as you've both grow, you might find yourself growing in different directions, or one growing while the other remains exactly the same. All relationships grow and change, a strong relationship can grow, change, and still work out 'the problems' that pop up.
I think the great thing about these stories is the fact that we get the HEA without all the later problems and worries. Realistic? Not necessarily, but enjoyable, to me at any rate.
Looking forward to more of this story! Kristin is stronger than I am. I'd grab what I needed for the next couple of days and leave the rest until I could move.
Hugs,
April
Cranial intrusion of the rectum is a horrible disorder that's becoming more prevalent these days.....
LOL again
papaya, I loved the way you phrased that: "...got greased...". It cracked me up! You sounded just like a gumshoe, yourself.
I also liked that they were upfront about saying they like each other. That was a refreshing change from the major game-playing you sometimes see in stories (and in life).
In a post about a previous story, someone mentioned that the online reads tend to follow a pattern of posting consecutive or even concurrent stories of the same type, rather than mixing it up. I see that is happening again, with two Love-Inspired stories running at the same time. Even though I really like them both so far, I wonder why they do it that way.

Hey JV!
The other Love Inspired story is actually a repeat. I remember reading it within the past 2 years. I'm not sure why it's being repeated, though.
And honestly, some of this story sounds familiar to me, too. Not that I'm not enjoying it, but it does sound like something I've read here before. What about anyone else?
Hugs,
April
Cranial intrusion of the rectum is a horrible disorder that's becoming more prevalent these days.....
I also liked the fact that
Kristin and Andy both came out and said they like each other.
I have to agree with Papaya. I also think that someone greased Charlie Linder because he failed to find whatever they are looking for.
Terri, are you going to come out and play with us? I hope so, since we're having so much fun with your read.
April, since I am fairly new to this, I haven't noticed anything that felt like I had read it before. Of course, with the way my mind is, I wouldn't know it if it was a snake that jumped up and bit me.
I don't remember reading
I don't remember reading either of these before, but there was a while where I hardly got online because I was so busy with other things. It could have been on then. The library doesn't have all the online reads either!
This was a mild getting to know you chapter. I like the insights into both characters :)
Hope they have a safe place for her to spend the night. I wouldn't want to stay in that apartment!
I just finished reading
I just finished reading double crossed... it had me pretty spell bound! Being from the islands and never having lived anywhere else, I could see a few things were a little off (poetic license
I'm sure), but for the most part Terri did a great job!

Sure it was... and probably meant to get us nice and relaxed before getting hit with a whammie of a cliff hanger tommorrow!
Awesome story, just wish Terri would come out and play with us. I like it when the author's chime in and we get to see what they are like.
