I read three books so far that haven't show any responsibility of birth control. You know like condoms. I can understand with regencies, but with modern romances, come on folks. It's starting to piss me off. Lets show some responsibility here. It doesn't take more than three or four lines to mention something. When an author fails to mention it, it pisses me off and I get the feeling the hero and heroine are being irresponsible and are to stupid to live.

I was thinking something
I was thinking something similar earlier this week. For a while condoms were a frequent mention in romances, but I've recently read a whole group of books with no mention of condoms, birth control, safe sex.

It's bugging me
It's bugging me that they don't mention. I'm reluctant to give my book to a teenage girl to read because the H/H aren't responsible enough to have any thought of bc.

LOL, I erased a sentence
LOL, I erased a sentence about teenage girls reading romances because I decided it would be a bit hypocritical. I have teenage daughters and I have never stopped them from reading romances, BUT I did use them as discussion starters about the importance of protection and safe sex.

I agree with the responsibility...
...totally! I have one DD after thirteen years of marriage and it's not due to abstinance - LOL!
Personally, I don't think I've seen any book lately without bc unless it's to allow a pregnancy. In the books you've mentioned, It's possible that the characters were supposed to be too absorbed in each other to think of birth control. It certainly happens in real life. But I agree that it's not a good example. Especially with younger girls. Heck, maybe not even with us olders ones, huh?
This is a good topic. True to life.
