Are you following the "Pass The Plot!" story? It's our fun new writing challenge this summer, featuring a story start written by Blaze author Rhonda Nelson! Rhonda gets us started, then eight randomly selected writers from the sign-up page keep us going. They'll have one week to get the chapter in for our reading pleasure--to be posted on Mondays by noon, EST at the very latest (because the hosty is on Pacific time and she has to be awake to post). Then Rhonda will come in and wrap it all up for us!
Here's the rules:
- Chapter is to be no more than 1000 words (please try to stay over 800, to be fair to the other players).
- Language and action must be PG-13: Please avoid swear words and explicit sexuality.
- Earn points on your chapter for including "Key Words"--list with point amounts provided below.
- Points will be calculated by the host and once a chapter is up, there's no going back to add in more!

This Summer's Category: Harlequin Blaze
The series features sensuous, highly romantic, innovative stories that are sexy in premise and execution. The tone of the books can run from fun and flirtatious to dark and sensual. Writers can push the boundaries in terms of characterization, plot and explicitness. Submissions should have a very contemporary feel — what it's like to be young and single today. Heroes and heroines should be in their early 20s and up. We want to see an emphasis on the physical relationship developing between the couple
Key Word List (phrases in quotes):
military= 1 pt
hungry=1 pt
Any variation of the word "sexy" = 1 pt
"Former Army Ranger" = 5 pts
"red stiletto heel(s)"= 5 pts
Any variation of the word "blaze"= 5 pts
scotch= 5 pts
undercover = 5 pts
"Wrong Bed" = 10 pts
"The tantalizing curve" = 20 pts

Hey Ms. Dee...
I'm confused.
You said you needed ALL the chapters in by Sunday. I thought this was a week by week thing. I mean when Jodie writes her chapter, then the next one can write, and after that - so on and so forth. Yes? Or do they all do chapter one and then you choose? Then pick names again?

One chapter each week due no later than Sunday
I think what Dee meant by needing all chapters is that each chapter is due by the Sunday of the assigned week and NOT that all the chapters are due this Sunday...got it?

LOL, Nini, you've been spending time in Jodie's law office, haven't you? I gotta whip out my legalese when dealing with you two. :)
As no one can write the continuing chapter to something they haven't read, no, all chapters will be due the Sunday AFTER the chapter preceeding their assignment. So, Jodie's is due August 3rd. Then the next writer is due August 10th. And so on. Like dominoes.

Do we only use the special words once, or can we use them more frequently? Do we get points every time we use them?

I was very tickled to be picked, and a little releived to see that i didn't have to go first. Phew! But then again chapter seven seems a long way a way.
As for the key words will they stay the same for each chapter? or will they change for each one?????

Hi Jo!!
Yeah, being first is a little scary.
So far, I've had to name the heroine (her name starts with J!), come up with some physical descriptions (I'm not doing them all....I'm leaving some for the next one up!), and the beginnigs of a plot (egad, I hope it's not boring!! I don't want to ruin the great start Rhonda gave us!!!)
I've got about 650 words so far, and I'm liking where it's taking me.....it's starting to flow. I'm going to try to get it to Dee a wee bit early so she can rein me in if necessary.

So, Jodie's chapter...
I've said before that I love Jodie's work. Let me tell you, gang, this chapter is no exception. I can't find a single thing I'd even consider changing. She's set up the plot (which I'M excited about), created sensual tension, a fiesty heroine (all from a pair of red heels!) and even managed to point out why she's under the bed instead of in it.
I probably should have just emailed Jodie back, but, well, I love tormenting folks when I get to read something and they have to wait til Monday, lol.
