The Pink Heart Society has reported the wonderful news that my critque partner, Donna Alwardwon the Bookseller's Best Traditional Romance Category with Hired by the Cowboy. The PHS also has photos of the prize.
Regular readers of this blog will know that this is the book that I convinced Donna to totally rewrite after she received a form rejection. She had orginally set the book in London, rather than setting it in Canada among other things. In between getting the rejection, and rewriting it, she wrote several other books. But the characters would not go away. They kept calling to her.
When she did rewrite, it was a total rewrite. And it became a very lovely book.
I am so very proud to have played a tiny role in Donna's success!!!
As luck would have it, she is away at a family wedding.

A true teacher is a person who, at the end of the school day, still likes children!
That's great news...
...for Donna. You guys obviously make good CP's for each other, Michelle. Without your encouragement, she may never have even tried that particular story again after receiving the rejection. Just goes to show that we ALL need encouragement from time to time. So, actually, congratulations to you both: to Donna for the book, and to you for the boost behind it.
Donna told us on an earlier blog that her mum is getting married at age 75. I think that's sweet and romantic. I hope they're all having a wonderful time at the wedding!

Going to post myself, but...
I had no idea. I'd forgotten about the award until we were driving back today, and said to the dh, "I won't win" and we had a laugh about the "it is lovely to be nominated" speech which is actually true.
But my inbox has been flooded and Michelle's e-mail to me reduced me to tears.
So thank you....and I'll put up a long post soon.
