“Every man's neighbor is his looking glass.” Whether or not your neighbor is smiling is a strong indication of the type of person you are.
A Man Mom Would Love is a sweet story about meeting people in unlikely places. Lexie loved her old small town life and found city life just isn’t the same. While she enjoys her new job at the retirement center, it’s not the same. However, when a new resident moves in, Lexie’s life begins to take an upswing. Her first meeting with Kevin McIntyre, former neighbor to Pearl, the new resident was not exactly the greatest but underneath his grubby exterior beats a heart of gold.
Mother’s Day surprises Lexie by being a day of new beginnings. While it has held no great significance to Lexie since her own mother died, this year is different. Lexie finds the peace she’s been missing when Kevin throws a party for Pearl. Here she discovers Kevin may very well be exactly what she needs.
A Man Mom Would Love is a short story that is makes us feel like the adventures in love are only just beginning for Lexie and Kevin. Even though the story is quite short and it is hard to develop characters fully in so few words, Susan Lyons succeeds. We feel like we really have come to know the hearts of Kevin and Lexie through their interactions with others. Actions do speak louder than words after all…
