August Frustrations

July was a pain between the non holiday at the inlaws and losing my blog, but I was hopeful that August would improve

Now July is behind me but August saw my hard disk dying and so all my blog files are lost - not such a big deal for the current year but I no longer have the 2006 and 2007 lists and so there are a few books that I'm not sure whether or not I read

Yeah sure I could read them again and count them again for 2008, but there are so many more in my TBR that it would be nice to be able to check the file rather than to start the book (again?)

Because I copy my "bought" lists into the TBR file but if I've already read it, that doesn't show!

And I'm supposed to be packing, not blogging or worrying about which books I have or haven't read!

The readaholic that I am has her priorities right, my clothes are still in the washing machine (not even the dryer) but my books are packed!

I'll hopefully be able to blog a little when I'm in Ireland, it's a civilised country, unlike the inlaws summer house Sealed, but I'll be back in about ten days either way

Be good while I'm gone - keep reading!

Have fun in Ireland!!

Things will seem better when you get back! Bummer on the hard drive. I boxed up books yesterday, so they should go out as scheduled. They all didn't fit. (I did put the JR Ward in your boxes that're going out.) But given your ordering history, I'll probably be sending another M-bag in a month or two, anyway.

I think if you didn't put in the JR Ward I might just find a cheapie flight and come and collect it myself!

Thanks for the good wishes - I might even remember to send a postcard from Ireland

Hope you have the clothes in the dryer by now

as they are hard and heavy to pack when wet. I don't think Ireland would tolerate a nude family. Have a great holiday and have fun!

When I get a little money I buy books, and then if any is left I buy food and clothes..-- Erasmus

Oh Sadhbh ...

you lost your 2006 & 2007 lists ... and your blog file  Surprised

sometimes a really good tech guru can retrieve files from what most consider a dead hard drive ... if you haven't trashed the drive, perhaps it would be worth it to ask around ....

I opened a blogspot blog ... it's my reading journal .... when eHarl announced the switch to new servers, I decided to copy my 2006 & 2007 blogs/reviews to the online journal ... now when I post my reviews here, I just automatically copy and paste them to the blogspot .... and my book folder with all my blogs and book lists gets copied to a USB drive regularly ....

we just lost eight years of data at the office ... very important crop data that we use for forcasting future crops ... I thought my backup was good ... turned out the backup drive I used had a corruption that wasn't noticeable until I needed to restore ... all the files I restored were jumbled beyond recognition .... never again will I rely on a single source for a backup ... USB drives are wonderful devices, small and portable ... for non-confidential files the web is another resource, and the beauty of the web is you can access the files from any computer .... I also love to email critical files from office to home and vice versa ...

I feel for you ... could you email Jayne and see if she can get you access to the old eHarl server ...then you could at least copy your month summaries .... I know you can't access it now, but it was there a month or so ago .... I miss not being able to go back to some of the wonderful forum discussions ..

I hope your computer woes are all behind you ... sounds like you need a nice break .... I hope the trip home is one filled with rest, relaxation and lots of great reading  :)

for the computer woes.  That is just so unfair!  You need a friend that is a miracle worker!  I sure lucked out with mine earlier this year.  I'll hope for a miracle for you.

Since you are now in Ireland I'll hope you are having fun, reading, relaxing and enjoying the visit.  Remember to Smile!

Take care, happy reading,

2006 and 2007 stuff available on another computer, I'll see when I get back

Having fun here - the boys are really excited about seeing their cousins and everybody, I'm not getting as much reading done as I hoped, but my bags are nearly full of all the bargains for the boys back to school clothes

They went to the beach yesterday and on Saturday and we also went to Cabinteely park with them yesterday (in between showers)

Luckily we're not affected by the flooding of the last couple of days
