Question about "Writerspace" contests *EDIT: yes, Canadians are eligible*

Hey, maybe someone here could answer this...  I was looking at the contests here: http://www.writerspace.com   (I got a little excited when I first stumbled upon all those contests... wow.  Romance readers should be checking it out, lots of authors do giveaways)

I noticed that last month none of the winners were from Canada.  I'm wondering if the contests are only open to people in the US?  I've entered some of the draws in the last few months, and they seemed to allow Canadian entries since you could select "Canada" and your province in the entry form.  But since I didn't see any Canadian winners I was wondering if maybe they discard Canadian entries.

If that's the policy, ok, I just want to know so I don't enter each month and get excited watching for the posting of winners.

There is only a "tech admin" email address listed on the main page, so I didn't think the tech admin would know the answer.  Maybe someone here does?

Some of the authors

state that they limit the contests to Americans but others have a spot for zip or postal code. I never thought to look if any of the posted winners were Canadian. I'd love an answer too.

Well, August has 75

Well, August has 75 different possible winners.  The June winners were all American, and there were probably a similar number of winners, say 60-70.  I was kind of surprised that not even ONE was from Canada.  So that made me think it was a "US only" contest.  I'm going to look at the July winners when they come out and see.

I would say it's always possible that there are TONS of US entries and hardly any Canadians entering...  that would make it likely for a US person's name to get drawn every time.  *shrug*  Can't tell.

hmm

I'd like to know the answer to that. I've entered contests there but don't think I've ever won. You'd think if they would just put "only open to U.S residents"

I've won a Writerspace

I've won a Writerspace contest, but unfortunately since I am from the US, that is likely no help.  They do have a lot of cool contests and it is great for hearing about new releases.

Cady

Well, I went ahead and

Well, I went ahead and emailed the "webmaster" address that was there.  I don't really think the tech admin is the same person as the actual "writerspace group" but here's hoping I get a reply.  I wouldn't want to go months entering the contests and hopefully checking back on the winners lists all in vain.  That would just be disappointing to find out months from now.

Congrats on the win Cady.  :)

I've entered

a couple of the writerspace contest and have not won, but I have won a couple of contest I entered on author web sites!

Are you in US or

Are you in US or Canada?

It's kind of confusing what's a plain "authors contest" vs. a "writerspace" one, since I came across the writerspace by visiting an individual author's site first and noticing it said "winner will be announced here: writerspace" and clicking it.  (I thudded a bit when I saw how many author contests were listed in one spot)

USA

I'm in the US.  There are several authors who run contest fequently, you might check out Anne McAllister, Liz Fielding, Kate Walker, Sherry WhiteFeather and Christine Rimmer.

I just saw the JULY WINNERS and there is a Canadian among the winners this month.  So yes, Canadians, keep on entering the Writerspace contests, it seems you do have a shot.  Yay!

Thanks Janet
