I figured others were showing how good they are at book organizing so I'm throwing my hat in the ring.
About a month ago I mentioned painting the whole apartment and my sister buying me a new couch. Well this is it. It's taupe and leather. It's funny because when I first went couch shopping, I said I wasn't going to get leather and I ended up liking the leather ones the best.
Now this is my computer desk with the new computer I got earlier this year (the reason Katherine says my reading is down) The place where I sit and talk to all of you from. I usually sit there and read most times.
This is the bookcase right beside the desk of all read book. At first glance it may not be alot but the shelves are two deep. The top 3 shelves are closer together because I added another shelf. If I was to run out of room I could compact the bottom three shelves and add another. And yes that is my Christmas tree. It's ceramic and stays out all year. These books are all organized in alphabetical order
This case kind of sits against the wall where the dining room flows to the living room. it has kind of a mish mash on it. Bottom shelf are hobby books medical dictionaries etc... Next shelf has trade size, again 2 deep, back row read, front row TBR and 4 paperback unread Diana Palmer. Next shelf all Diana Palmer, 2 deep. All but 4 read. Next shelf 2 deep: Men Made in America, Mediterean Nights, HQN, Desire, Everlasting. All unread. Next shelf, 2 deep: NASCAR, Mills and Boon, Medicals, Single title. All unread. Next shelf 2 deep anthologies, back row and 5 read, front row 14 unread. Next row, back row historicals, front row 11 Next. All unread. just ignore me in the kitchen there.
This case is in the bedroom and hold all TBR. From bottom shelf we have Presents. The dark area on the left are the Modern Love which are Presents Extra. Up one. American Romance and H and S Romance. There is some extra room at the end because I was playing with the books and made some room on those shelves. Give it about 2 months that spot will be filled
. Up one, AR and Supers. Up one, Supers. Up one, Blaze and Mira. Up one, SSE. Up one, Intrigue, SIM/SRS, Temptations and 9 more SSE that don't fit on SSE shelf. (squinting yet Jillyan

Thanks for the tour! I love
Thanks for the tour! I love your computer desk style. Also love the comfy looking couch.
Nancy
Christa,
I love your computer desk.
Your couch looks really great for reading! Both our couch and chair downstairs seem to be bad for my neck when I read for long times. And your bookshelves.....I'll have to take pictures of mine before I organize them...you'll see how I can lose a book in my shelves! Your shelves look so nice. I am jealous.

RE: COUCH, DESK, COMPUTER, BOOKCASES
Christa, one of the things I did to my oldest boys' room (he's soon to be 21 and off to university), was take out his (double) bed and headboard, and his long sleek, dresser, in order to put in a blond wood Futon and two wicker bookshelves. It's still his room the times he comes back to the house and stays a couple days, (he just simply opens the Futon and it turns into a queen size bed for him to sleep on) , and of course, the wicker bookcases are filled with my Harlequin and Imprints adventures! One never knows where he'll wind up behind the bedroom door !

Enjoyed seeing
your bookshelves. Are we weird or what? If you think about it it is kinda strange we go looking at peoples shelves and enjoy it. HockeyJock that is funny that you put a futon in your son's room as I did the same. I turned it into the jungle room with my computer desk and books and stuff. I told him he still has a place to sleep anytime he needs it.

RE my place
Nancy- I like a corner style desk too. it doesn't take up as much room especially if you have a monitor with a big bum. This couch is definitly better than the brown one with big ugly orange flowers I had.
Merri- It's funny I hardly ever sit on the couch to read. I am usually sitting in the chair by the computer so that when I read I can type in key phrases into a doc as I'm reading. Love to see before and after picture. To bad you don't live closer, I love playing with books.
HJ- My son was living with my parents. As soon as he moved out my stepmother turned the room into a sewing/reading room but has a pull out couch, so he still has a place to sleep
Deb- Nope I think it's prefectly normal to get pleasure from simple things
and it may give people ideas(SO may not like it when they hear "honey I want that"

WOW!
There is no way I could post pictures of my home! Especially right now it's looking like a huge disaster zone. Richard is packing to move out. The big move is supposed to happen this week.
Seeing your lovely shelves has me green with envy, and has been somewhat motivating. We'll have to see what happens. Whatever it is won't happen for awhile, as the priority is first going to be cleaning and repainting Richard's room, so that Brian can move in.
Enjoy it all. I know you deserve it!

Thanks for the tour Christa
You are so organized. I will not be posting a picture of my TBR as it is just an immense pile of filled plastic bags and produce boxes. Which is growing as we speak thanks to BOGO.

before I got the two bookcases in the living room, my books were in boxes on the floor.
Heehee that was why I rearranged the shelves and left some room for more books on the shelf in the bedroom. Between the BOGO sale and another order I have 20 heading this way, then I also have subscriptions coming.

I am trying to ignore that BOGO
has one more day to run. I have too too many books fighting for the top of my TBR. I have 28 coming this month (2-orders) and I need to make a trip to UBS to trade books as well. I have discovered blogging and keep hoping the fascination will wear off. I can see how easy it would be to lose oneself in Cyber-space. I even blogged on Love is an exploding cigar today. Good thing my DH is a honey.

Hi Christa - love the pics!
My apt is actually pretty tidy at the moment - I should take pics too before I make a mess again! My keeper bookcases are in my computer room/office. I bought the tall Billy bookcases from Ikea. Put my books on them, ran out of room so I went back and bought the toppers for the bookcases to utilize the very top as a shelf. Then I had to rearrange my books cuz they have to be in alpha order.
Thanks for sharing. Aren't we nuts that we love to look at other's bookcases?

Billy bookcases
ElleJay the two in the living room are Billy and I have an extra glass shelf in each one(the top half) If I need to I can still fit one more shelf in each case.I don't have a picture of the entertainment unit but there are 5 shelves under that and can hold books 4 deep. I have Jackie Collins books, books that are way way down on the reading list, giveaway books,Christmas books, other books from series like Tyler, St.elizabeth children's hospital, greatest Texas Love stories etc...

Holy TBR Batman!
You put my TBR shelf to shame! LOL Thanks for the lovely tour. Love the bookcases and how many books they appear to hold. I must say, I like your new couch, too.

RE: COUCH, DESK, COMPUTERS, BOOKCASES
Interesting that you did the same thing, Deb (taking down a bed and moving in a Futon in its place). It actually makes a nice, comfy reading room. Something that I never thought I'd go for at this stage of the game.
