Kimani On The Run
This week, authors A.C. Arthur, Marcia King-Gamble and Maureen Smith drop by to discuss their part in one of Kimani newest continuities, ROMANCE ON THE RUN.
GUARDING HIS BODY - A.C. Arthur
The ex-marine spoke with confidence and steely determination, but all Renny Bennett saw in his new bodyguard was a petite, doe-eyed nymph. Sabrina Dedune's feisty, take-no-prisoners attitude proved she took her job seriously. But suddenly the gorgeous body under that T-shirt seemed far more dangerous than any threat on his life. Sabrina was good at her job, but this talented sculptor and his erotic works of art left her reeling. Staying focused was hard when her body ached to taste all Renny had to offer. But after one searing kiss, she was guarding more than his body. Now her heart was at risk.…
MEET PHOENIX - Marcia King-Gamble
Brilliant, beautiful and brazen, art expert Phoenix Sutherland is prepared for anything when she embarks on a daring quest to recover a priceless statue—anything except having her sexy ex-husband, Damon, as a specialist on her team. Phoenix vows to remain professional. But with Damon's lean, strong body awakening buried longing, forbidden pleasure beckons as they enter the heart of Tibet, where danger, adventure and mystery await. Soon the thrill of the moment rekindles sparks of desire neither Phoenix nor Damon can resist, as they recklessly toss inhibitions aside and discover the only real treasure worth risking everything to claim.
SECRET AGENT SEDUCTION - Maureen Smith
Born to live a life of intrigue and adventure, beautiful Secret Service agent Lia Charles has never met a challenge she can't overcome. That is, until she receives her latest assignment—rescue the brilliant, boldly charismatic and bona fide hottie Armand Magliore, a revolutionary leader of a war-ravaged Caribbean republic. Lia will need all of her special-ops training and all of her professional objectivity to get Armand to safety, and to keep their relationship from heating up. Even so, it isn't long before Lia discovers that extracting the handsome revolutionary from the dark, treacherous jungles will be the easy part. Guarding her heart from a darkly handsome rebel will test her to her limits.

Romance on the Run - Welcome..
A.C./Marcia/Maureen
Welcome to the Kimani Forum. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to discuss this exciting series.
First question - Tell us how the series came about.
wj
Hello
Hi Wayne! Thanks for the invite.
As for how the Romance on the Run series came about, it was former Kimani editor, Mavis Allen's brainchild. I know that I submitted Guarding His Body to Mavis a few months before the launch of the Kimani line and she sent me a fabulous rejection letter...yes, there is such a thing! She said that the story was too suspenseful for what she was looking for at the moment and asked that I submit something else. I did, she accepted it, then she called and asked for Guarding His Body again. So I presume she already had thoughts in her mind for the series.
I have to say these are three of the HOTTEST covers I've seen in a series! I'm so excited.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Greetings!
Hello everyone! Wayne, thank you so much for the invitation. I'm so excited to have the Romance on the Run series featured this week. I was thrilled when former Kimani editor Mavis Allen invited me to participate in the series, and when I heard that I would be joining such talented authors as AC Arthur and Marcia King-Gamble, I was like, "Yesss!" Mavis knew how much I love writing romantic suspense, so it was great to pen an action/adventure romance for Kimani. I had a blast (no pun intended, lol)!
And I have to agree with AC. These covers are HOT!!! (Especially hers!

AC and Maureen, I really loved both of your books. I still need to read MEET THE PHOENIX, Marcia. But I have it and it is at the top of my very large to-be-read pile. Does anyone know if they will be continue the Love on the Run Series with other books?

More on Romance on the Run
Hi Everyone,
It's Marcia King-Gamble and I'm thrilled to be in such talented company as AC and Maureen. My contribution- Meet Phoenix was actually written for the Bombshell line. The guidelines at the time were high on action and low on romance. Unfortunately the Bombshell line closed before the book went to print. I was lucky enough to have my wonderful editor (at the time) Mavis Allen pick up the book. A special shout out to author Gwyneth Bolton for joining us. We appreciate your support and thanks for being here.

Maureen, I loved Secret Agent Seduction. I loved Armand and Lia's characters. I was glad that Armand didn't give up on what he wanted. I still have to read Meet The Phoenix and I can't wait to read it.

To answer your question, Gwyneth, I was told that the Romance on the Run series will continue with select titles. So hopefully we'll be seeing more books in this exciting series in the near future!

Meet Phoenix
Linda and Maureen you are much too kind. I especially appreciate the comments coming from such a talented duo. I've got your books at my bedside and can't wait to read them. Linda's been a Waldenbooks best seller for as long as I've known her. She's a critique partner as well. So AC and Maureen what are your favorite scenes in your respective books? I bet your fans are dying to hear all about them.

Hey Marcia and
Hey Marcia and Maureen...and all the readers and writers joining us this week! I've read Meet Phoenix and want to thank Marcia for a terrific read! I'm taking Secret Agent Seduction with me on my trip next week and I already know I'm going to enjoy that because Maureen can work a romantic suspense book!
Favorite scenes: I think I have two, the first being when Bree puts Yolanda in her place then knocks her down. I was laughing the whole timeI wrote that part. The second would have to be when Bree was trying to sleep in the bed and Renny was attempting to sleep on the floor...it was such a pitiful attempt. LOL

Hi AC - I've read Guarding
Hi AC - I've read Guarding His Body and loved it. It was my first AC Arthur book and it won't be my last. Right now I am desperately waiting on your Braddocks book. I have A Cinderella Affair on my shelf and need to read it too. I enjoyed the role reversal with the body guard. I think my favorite part was when Bree pushed Renny out of the way of the moving car and his reaction to it.
Hi Marcia - Meet Phoenix is on my stack to read. I look forward to reading it. I actually meet you once. You came to be a part of my book club's anniversary celebration. Sistahs of Color in Arkansas.
Hi Maureen - Secret Agent Seduction is on my stack too. This will be my first by you and from what I hear it shouldn't be my last. Each year I seem to discover new favorites and my reading pile increases by the boxes.
I've heard great things about both books I have yet to read.

A Warm Welcome!
Hi Star,
Welcome!
Of course I remember The Sistahs of Color. You were all so warm and welcoming. You certainly made me feel at home. Thanks for your kind words. I'm pleased to be amongst such a talented group of ladies. A.C. Arthur and Maureen Smith are the best.
So tell us Star what are your favorite plots?

I have read all three books.
I have read all three books. I have always been a fan of Maureen since reading With Every Breath. Then the early part of the year I read one of AC's book which sent me on a hunt. I have a long way to go. Marcia took me on a journey that made me want to do so research to learn more about a something I know very little about. Which was the same with Secret Agent. I can't forget Mr. Body conquering the a world few AA go into. Each story was a lesson in history. Way to go ladies!!! I enjoyed all three.
More Romantic Suspense
Hi Star! Glad you enjoyed Renny & Bree.
Hey Fonda - I was hoping the series would bring something new and fresh to the readers, I'm glad it worked for you.
Like, Marcia I felt honored to be lined up with two great authors like her and Maureen. Which has me thinking -- would you, the readers, like to see more romantic suspense at Kimani? I know right now it's just a series but I love writing romance with suspense elements so I'm curious as to what types of stories the readers are really looking for.

I love romantic suspense
I love romantic suspense stories. My first introduction was by Maureen and I have been looking for other stories like hers ever since. Which is one of the reason Beverly Jenkins is a favorite of mine. It do not care much about the historical aspect mainly because I don't like reading about AA in the light Jim Crow. But Ms. Jenkins keep it very entertaining once I allow myself to get pass that part of my/our history. So I would say write it. Guarding His Body was great and I definitely purchase another one by you. I have all of Maureens except Ghost of Fire (I think that's the title)
Back to you Fonda!
Hi Fonda,
Welcome! Thanks for your kind words. It's nice to know we piqued your interest about a topic or country, and made you want to do research. I think I speak for my fellow authors when I say our goal is to educate without being preachy. There are many stereotypes about African Americans out there. The truth is we are all over the map, enjoying interesting careers, participating and making a name for ourselves in sports other than basketball and track, and in general making a huge difference in people's lives.
Today you can be anything you want to be.

Don't shoot me, but I have bought the books. That does count - right?
I'm glad Kimani put out this series because so many readers have expressed how much they like a little suspense with their romance.
Despite the initial rejections and closing of lines, these books have had a rebirth because they were meant to be. Proud of you ladies.

Romance on the Run
Thanks so much to all the readers and fellow authors who dropped in last week to say hello! <waving madly to Fonda, who has been so wonderfully supportive!>
Hi Michelle! So glad you bought the books -- I hope you will enjoy them!
I will echo all the wonderful sentiments expressed by A.C. and Marcia about romantic suspense and depicting African-American characters in "nontraditional" settings. Long live Romance on the Run!
