RE: FAVORITE THEME SONGS
I giess where I'ma little different is that I don't have A FAVOURITE Harlequin Book. I do have favourite books, but I'm hard pressed to pick out one and call it the "BE ALL AND END ALL BOOK' of my collection. One thing I have done, though, is go through the current Harlequins & Imprints that I'm reading and choose an appropriate song for each one.
"I went to a FIGHT the other night...and a HOCKEY GAME broke out!! "

I don't think I could link
I don't think I could link a song to a book at the moment... I'll keep it in mind as I'm reading books and see if a song leaps into mind.
I do like theme songs to fit my mood at the moment though.
- Affirmation by Savage Garden - a really hopeful song
- Bitch by Meredith Brooks - sometimes my personality....
- Be Mine by Robyn - kind of a "letting go" song
- Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez - not really a "mood" song, but wow, this song makes love almost seem like an act of worship. Its kind of a wedding dance song almost.
I don't want to name an absolute favorite book either
but I will put a song with a Keeper book I just read.Just remember I'm an older lady so my tastes might not be yours.
The book is Same Time Next Summer by Holly Jacobs and the song is Unchained Melody by anyone who ever sang it.

Yes the Rightous Brothers did a really great version of Unchained Melody but there are many other versions out there as well. It's got to be one of the best love songs going.

I don't have a favorite book but I loved Anything For You by Sarah Mayberry. It is a best friends to lovers romance. I was listening to the radio at work today and that song by Vanessa Williams came on. I'm not sure of the title but it might be Saved the Best for Last. It reminded me of this blog and of Anything For You.

RE: FAVOURITE THEME SONGS
Why do reading certain books evoke memories of particular songs? Why do we hum familiar (to us as individuals) love songs as we read? Do particular themes remind of a good cinema from eons ago? Hmmm ...
HOLLY JACOBS has just released a winner, Same Time Next Summer. I think of the song, "Theme From 'A Summer Place'". Remember that one? With Sandra Dee?
"I went to a FIGHT the other night...and a HOCKEY GAME broke out!! "
HockeyDET@comcast.net
Yes Hockey Jock
That song matches Holly's book also. So now I'll have two songs running around in my head. Unchained Melody on A side and Theme From a Summer place on B side. I'm old enough to remember 45's.

RE: 45s
Kaelee -- So am I! Remember the Record cases for your 45s that looked a bit like a cake holder? With the plastic cover and holder? And when we lost the 45 adapter to the HiFi we had those 'yellow things' we put in the middle of our 45s so they would fit on the record player?
"I went to a FIGHT the other night...and a HOCKEY GAME broke out!! "
HockeyDET@comcast.net
Yeah!
They had three arms and I remember various colors as all My Pat Boone records all got red ones. I liked Elvis but even then I marched to a different drummer as Pat was my favorite. You were probably into the girl singers as they were known at that time. All the old variety shows on tv would have a token girl singer. Don't remember the cake holder thing.

Bing Crosby
Aurelene, The Song 'True Love' that Bing Crosby sang to Grace Kelly was in High Society. That movie had a few really good scenes in it. My favorite was with a young Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby. They did a buddy song in a bar at some party. It was very, very cute.

Favorite Music/books
That one is easy for me. The song is I Give My Heart by John Berry. If you have not heard it then go find a copy of it. There are several more he does but that is my favorite.
As far as books go for this song. This is really hard for me to pick. But there are two of them that come to mind. But they are not Harlequin books. They are by Jude Deveraux. They are
.A knight in Shining Armor and Sweet Liar.
One of my favorite books was the Million Dollar Marriage by Maggie Shayne. This book kicked off the Fortune of Texas books back in 1999. This book has it all. The song that comes to mind is Your love amazes me by John Berry.

Patsy as you can tell I love country too. Do you like this is Just a Dream by Carrie Underwood. If so you should look at the video for it . I cried most of the way through it. It fit a situation in Calgary where we had a young soldier killed in Iran and he left a fiance here at home.

Romantic theme songs
There are soooo many Bryan Adams songs that would fit a number of my favorite romance books. One of the most romantic ones is "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" (with the lyrics: "To really love a woman
Let her hold you -
til ya know how she needs to be touched
You've gotta breathe her - really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
N' when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman") and "Please Forgive Me" among others. I sigh every time I hear them. Based on his songs, I am convinced that he has truly and deeply loved a woman.
Also, I have to agree on Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman". Also, how about "Cherish" or "Never My Love" by The Association or "I Only Have Eyes for You" and "All I Know" both by Art Garfunkel or Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" or even Joe Cocker's "You are so Beautiful to Me".
I wish I could remember the title of one I bought my DH for our anniversary one year. I heard it on the radio and went into a record store to describe it to the clerk. It turned out to be on a romantic anthology of songs, but I was shocked to learn it was sung by some heavy metal group because it was so sweet and romantic. I'll have to study on that a bit and see if I can come up with it.
