I will not be around for at least 10 days starting tomorrow as I am leaving bright and early for the Smokey Mountains and Gatlinburg where I plan on meeting a couple of friends I met here in this community
and sight seeing. I love visiting the national parks and have been to a lot of them but still have many to go. I say at least 10 days because since my time is my own (please don't hate me
) I may take some side trips on the way home. I don't take my computer with me and usually don't bother to find a place where I can use one so you won't hear from me while I am gone. I will be taking a lot of books because I am not a person who feels comfortable going out alone at night so I shall have a lot of reading time and maybe I can get a review written up to post when I get back. And yes I am driving the 1300+ miles by myself to get there and at least that many back.

Do you have room for a couple of passengers? My DH and I would really love to see the Great Smoky Mountains but we want to see them in the fall. I think you might be a bit early for the fall colors. Please let us all know about your trip when you get back. Happy sight seeing, visiting and reading.

oh geez!
im going up to the smokeys in november actually if my grandmas ok and we dont have to see her first with my mom dad bro and my best friend maybe if her dad lets her come well be renting a beautiful cabin in the mountains with a hot tub and a fireplace talk about some major writting!!!! full equipped kitchen!!! then next month in september im going to stay at a resort in orlando for 3 days to go to universal studios and this summer I'll probably go to miami or maybe I'll go for spring break south beach!!!! so yeah i have a couple of vacations which im very happy about my dad says he needs one because i drive him crazy tehe! and the oscar goes to!!!!! (my next goal; Italy! dont tell pinky swear!) oh yea have a great trip there!!!!

highlights
I'm not one to go out after dark in a strange place so usually after I finished supper I would curl up in bed and read until I fell asleep. I usually got through two a night. I also have some I read before I left and never got blogged.
I guess one of the highlights of the trip was having dinner with Kay and Ronda and their husbands.
I was also inspired by seeing the place where FDR donated the national park to the people of the US to always be a free park (no admission charged). And since I come from a fairly desert like part of the country the mountains are always amazing.

I love my mountains
I was born in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. I do however love the badlands, the prairie, the desert and just about any other place on earth. Isn't the diversity wonderful. We have visited some of the American National Patks and have loved eveyone we have been to.

Smokey Mountain National Park is the most visited national parks in the US. There is an interesting story about how the park got its start. The people of the area could not get the government to buy up the land and save it from disaster and make a national park out of it so they banded together to privately buy it up and finally offered it to the government. After what had to be a long time (I was told but don't remember how long) the government agree to take the land and make a national park out of it. I have also been to Glacier NP. It had truly awe inspiring views (especially the Going to the Sun road) but I was very glad I was not the one driving.

Back when it was easier to go across the border we used to do going to the sun as a day trip. We were also younger then and didn't mind long days in the car.
