Hey people, I've read (and enjoyed) a couple Susan Mallery books lately. (The Unexpected Millionaire is an utter keeper... an SD... that had me choking with laughter and just howling away). I've seen tons of her books at the library. I'm eyeing up her SSE books.
There's this series of tons of books that are named "The Sheikh and The XYZ". I'm meandering through the backcovers over at fictiondb: http://fictiondb.com/author/susan-mallery~4825.htm
I'm wondering... are they ALL good? Is it the type of series where I should read each book, in the proper order, so better to appreciate it? Or should I just read the ones that jump out and appeal to me? I want to know if reading in order matters....
I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS.
(and I need to expand outwards from just the HP/SDs I've been reading)

The Sheikh
books are great and they're all keepers for me. The H's are great caring guys and she throws a bit of humor in most of them. You could read them out of order but why miss some excellent reads. Some are related but they could stand alone.

Thanks. I'm not sure how
Thanks. I'm not sure how to come at the series. I read some series in order, in an anal way. But I also don't want to get religious about reading all the books in order if the odd one just isn't going to be to my taste. Better to love all you read than be disappointed.
But since you're happy with 'em all... heh. Still on the fence!
Janet, the most recent
Janet, the most recent one I've read was 'The Sheik & the Christmas Bride', I might have 1 or 2 of hers from last year. This one was okay to good. I couldn't get past the fact that this 25 years old virgin grew up in convent (or orphanage), planned to become a nun, but met the H, then talked to mother superior about she had sex with the H.

That's a snort worthy situation there...
Hmmm. I think I'll start by reading the first story or two that appeals to me and just go from there for the moment.
Janet - the sheik books are
Janet - the sheik books are about a couple of different families. I think my favorite is about Cleo and her sheik, It is the Sheik and the Pregnant Princess. I have a list of all the sheik books and can give it to you, but I am not exactly sure which ones are part of which series.

I think for now I'll just read one or two and not worry about whether the books interact and come off better if you read them in order, so don't worry. :)
Mallery's sheiks
are all really enjoyable. I'm with Cady, Cleo's story is really good, as well as Zara's. You'll find lots to enjoy in El Bahar, Bahania, Lucia Saret and El Daharia. Oh and Kardal and Sabrina in the City of Theives, is interesting, too.

Mallery's Desert Rogue Series
A friend game me the entire series a few years ago and then as new ones came out I purchased them. I must say they are are wonderful as only Susan can write. They are warm, sensitive, funny, sexy and a few teary. You absolutely won't be sorry.
I would also recommend Susan's Marcelli Sister Series, the Buchanan's and her latest Bakery Sister series, a couple of them have been on the NYTimes bestseller list. What can I say, I'm a Mallery fan.
Other Sheikh authors: Kate Walker, Annie West, Trish Morey, Jane Porter, Sandra Marton, Susan Stephens, Penny Jordan, Michelle Reid who write for Harlequin Presents. Dana Marton for Silhouette, Olivia Gates I believe for Desire.

When I started reading this genre and had some time on my hands, there was a site dedicated to the genre but spam took over so I started a blog to catalogue what I was reading at http://romancing-the-desert---sheikh-books.blogspot.com/ stop by for a visit, comment or share your views if you've read the book. I'm giving away Susan Stephens latest release. Thanks!

Hey Reading in Seattle...
Hey Reading in Seattle... You recommend other "sheikh" authors, LOL! It's funny because I started this thread about Susan Mallery's Sheikh series because I really needed an EXTRA push that would make me want to read 'em all (or even some).
Personally, I find it hard to get into books that are about the sheikh/royal lifestyle and "who's inheriting the throne" plotline. So I need to be drawn in by something special about the characters and relationship.
I do like Susan Mallery's style from the books I've read, so I'm going to read more from her.
.... btw..... I've also been reading Diana Palmer books this week. And for me, "cowboy/ranch" plotlines aren't my usual fare. My attitude towards cowboys and sheikhs are pretty much the same, it isn't a lifestyle I really sympathize with, but when there's a yummy hero who's the kind of man I like... then hooray!
I'm really enjoying the books I've read so far by DP. (I'm realizing that I really have a thing for heroes who are whipped by the heroine, totally in love with them, emotionally affected, and unable to be with another woman. I like the feeling that the woman has some emotional power, especially when in the DP books the heroines are all virgins and don't yield the equal sexual power)
Diana Palmer
I've read quite a few of her books, very enjoyable. As for sheikh books, I honestly never thought I would enjoy them but Susan's writing style, her sense of humor, very fun reads. There are a few Harlequin Presents authors who write them as well; Jane Porter, Annie West, Sandra Marton, Kate Walker, Liz Fielding, Susan Stephens, and Trish Morey. Plus for other lines Olivia Gates, Dana Marton, Barbara McMahon.

Hey Marilyn... yeah,
Hey Marilyn... yeah, Sheikh stories have become a frequent storyline for HPs, kind of like the "Greek Tycoon" phenomenon. Not a bad thing really, everyone has their personal fav "fantasy" stories they like to escape and read about. I'm more of a Greek Tycoon girl, not so much a "Sheikh" girl myself.
I have had a few "sheikh" keepers though! Because an outstanding author/story appealed to me.
Book Contest on Romancing the Desert

Please stop http://romancing-the-desert---sheikh-books.blogspot.com/ and post either what you're reading or make a suggestion.
