Sometimes, I go through and get rid of books that I haven't read in awhile from the keeper pile. I don't want it to take over my house like my TBR has....

They wouldn't be keepers if I didn't re-read them. What is the point of having extra books in my house otherwise?

I'm a member of a couple of writers group....One is sponsored by my state's Arts Commission. The other is one that was created after last year's Nano.  One is good for critiquing (the Arts group) and the other is great at plotting.

I've had a similar experience with some of my friends. I don't blame them. They don't know how to analyze writing or what to say about my characters, but....if they read at all, it wouldn't take too much to look at what you've written and say I like your characters/plot because of xyz. Just to show that you're paying attention.

I think a lot of us have similar stories. My mother still reads romances although not at the same level that I do. She's retiring this month so that may change although I doubt it. My mom has spent so much time around 10-year olds  that I think she's developed ADD. She can't sit still. Drives me bananas...

I just finished Persuasion and I'm listening to Pride and Prejudice.  She did write scandalous characters, but they always suffered for their scandal. But she wrote passion between Darcy and Elizabeth, so I believe that she could have written a spicy novel.
