- Sometimes succinctness is good.06/26/2008 - 08:39
I don't find wryly a problem as it conveys a lot in a single word.
One word I don't like is "throatily"- however that seems to be in the older books rather than the newer books, thank goodness.

It is difficult discerning whether something is a picture quality issue to be ignored or an intended difference.
Still I guess they can't make it too easy for us

I like the fact that buying the ebooks also means the author is getting the royalties too. Tracking down the books I want (as they are often long out of print) actually means I am spending quite a bit more than an ebook purchase for a recent new book for a secondhand book or an ebay lot with the book I want -and I don't particularly want the other books- and postage, which is often more than the book(s).
I just bought a Sara Seale from great Britain; and several Day Leclaires from BetterWorld with relatively cheap overseas postage @ $2.97 per book (otherwise postage is exorbidant from the US). Again it cost me more than a new harlequin off the shelves.
When I was a young student - quite a while ago
- I would search used book stores, charity shops , jumble sales etc to find the books I wanted. I was at one stage collecting the Abbey girl books by EJ Oxenham. It was extremely time consuming. I didn't mind then but I could use that time better now. I've only become internet savvy in the last 10 years and found it a much more efficient way to get the books I want.
Another benefit for the authors is that ebooks can't be forever passed around and they get more return for the enjoyment they are giving- though they may accrue a fan base through their older books.
[Although it seems most of the Sara Seales have been discarded (or kept as treasures) because there aren't many in circulation but she is no longer alive to benefit from royalties].
In the meantime I will keep blogging the paper books I am working my way through and will eventually get to read more of the ebooks that are unobtrusively stored in my computer. At least with the ebooks I don't have the dilemma of what to do with the books after I've finished reading them.

I love the ebooks and have been buying them but I am trying to reduce my stock of paper books (at least to the ones I want to keep) so thats what I'm reading. Also I am waiting for PDA - just bought one online.
I bought a lot of books on ebay ( and ended up with a lot of others I didn't particularly want as they were in the package) and as I result I have all these books I feel I should read as I bought them and paid the postage.- which was often more than the books. .
Now I've found www.betterworld.com where I picked up the particular books I wanted and shipping to Australia was reasonable- otherwise its really expensive. (its free shipping in the US).

To one with an obsessional personality trait finding YET ANOTHER difference when there is only supposed to be 8 is a distortion in The Way Things Are Supposed To Be.
I start asking myself...
Is it Me?
What is the purpose...
of Life?
The Universe ...?
and
EVERYTHING?

but then I find the answer... AND It was not my fault. It does look that way owing to the way the picture is aligned but some changes disappear when the picture is clicked on.Whew!
Sorry Jayne a corrected email coming.
Time to get a life!

which can't be true since the artists would know that they only changed 8 things...

(maybe because it is widescreen) but I see 9 differences.
Or may be the way the lighting in my room is.
