Now I'm crying. I've had a kind of sucky week--no big thing, just feeling blue. Reading this comment has made my week. I feel the exact same way about this community, by the way. I love it here. Smile

    Cheers,

    Hi Linda,

Did you send me your postal address? I don't think it came through my email yet. (ellen at ellenhartman dot com)

    Cheers,

You guys are all so sweet. Smile

It's honestly my pleasure to share a book with people. As I mentioned in an email to JV this evening, this particular book is dedicated to my online friends so it seems even more fitting!

    Smile

    Hi, Marcie!!

[I made a separate post about this last night but then thought I better stick a copy in here, too. So this is a cut and paste of that other post.]

    -----------------------------------------

I had my son pull the names of two winners for the drawing from the Life: Not What I Expected blog. When he was finished he asked me what the drawing was for and I said a book. He got all depressed and started unfolding the other names and saying how sad it was that I couldn't give a book to everyone.

    That made me sad.

Then I thought about all the things we shared here about changing plans and going new directions and I thought, "Who says we can't all have a free book?"

So I think I got all the names of people who commented and wanted a book.  Here are the winners of the unexpected book giveaway!

    Penney
    Nicole
    Linda H.
    Chey
    Tiffany
    Moodylady
    Lynne
    JV

Send me your postal address (ellen at ellenhartman dot com), and I'll send you a copy of Plan B: Boyfriend! (If I missed your name, please send an email! Don't want to accidentally leave anyone out.)

Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Hi Lynne--I'm raising a bookworm. He couldn't believe people would be denied the pleasure of a new book!

    Thanks!

We really need to thank Harlequin for giving us this wonderful community site and providing books for authors to give away! I love being able to share books, but I wouldn't be able to do it as often without Harlequin's generosity! Smile

Your job sounds fascinating. You make the world go around (in a way)! Very cool. I happened to get my degree in technical writing just as programs for that major were starting to become more popular. In most of my early jobs (where I was the "newbie"), I was the only one with a degree in tech writing. I always enjoyed hearing how people wound up in the field when they'd set out to be something different.

I love your story about your husband. Very good choice on your part. I can totally imagine you weighing the odds and deciding you better find out his intentions. I can imagine him thinking about you on a college campus with all those single guys and jumping to commit. Way to motivate him! Congrats on the way those plans have worked out so well! Laughing

    Thanks for sharing your story!

Wiccachick--I didn't get the impression you thought you'd made a sacrifice at all. I thought your post was very thoughtful about the path you'd followed and the feelings you had along the way. I think for many people who have kids the fact of becoming a parent is a game changer. I know it was for me, too.  Smile

    Take care,

...with people refusing free books? Cool  Laughing  Wink

I'm worried eHQ might explode if this keeps up!

Just kidding. I'm thrilled people have picked up Plan B: Boyfriend! I had a lot of fun writing it and I've been dying to share it!

    Cheers,

Moodylady--I've noticed how many of us have changed our plans because our families needed something that we wanted to give. I know I fantasize about being a full-time author. If it were just me, I think I'd probably take the leap. I have a family, though, and I carry the benefits and have the only steady paycheck. (My husband is in full-commission sales.) There's just no way I can give up the stability my job provides for our family, so full-time writing remains a future plan! Smile

I'm glad you're doing something you enjoy now. I hope eventually you'll find the thing that really lights you up!

    Thanks for sharing your story,

    Ellen
