Well, we went to the bookstore, but by the time each kid picked out their book - Fancy Nancy, Bonjour Butterfly for Maggie and Smash, Crash for Luke, they were worn out - we had done the mall earlier.  So I guess my books will be bought by me later.

Well, in my list, I had no Us and no X authors, but I did have two Vs - Rachel Vincent - writes the werecat series - Stray and Rogue - and Evelyn Vaughn - who has tons of great books, but I don't think she has anything new this year.  Interesting challenge.

I had walked away from Blaze, as it didn't seem like a line for me, but recently was pulled back in by all the great reviews of Kathleen O'Reilly's Sex Straight Up - they were definately deserved.  I haven't read the others in the trilogy, but will.  A great story and highly recommended..

On Tuesday, I was having a program at this great caterers, when we got there to set up a group was leaving from some type of luncheon.  It was all women, and I saw several gift bags and lots of beautiful flowers.  So as we were getting our stuff to go in, I asked the lady what was the program - a baby shower or wedding shower?  And she explained that her daughter had died last year, so a group of women - both her friends and her daughter's friends had put on a mother's day luncheon for her.  What a wonderful gift, she told me, as it was a great way to remember her daughter.  Very touching, made me want to cry.

Katherine - I totally understand what you say about picking what book is calling you not what you think you should read.  I guess that is part of my goal, don't worry about TBRs or blogs, just pick what is calling you.

Sadhbh - I think blogging is some of it, I really hate blogging about rereads, I never did it in the first couple of years - seemed like cheating.  However, what happened is I stopped reading my favorites and I think that has pulled me out of reading a bit.  So my goal now is to sprinkle in some old classics.  I don't have to do all classics, but add a couple each month and maybe I will get back to where my choice is more about my enjoyment than about any personal challenge.

I think my competitive nature kicked in and I was so focused on the number, that at times I pushed myself to start a book when I wasn't really in the right mood.

Tracey - I think how busy we are really affects our reading.  Life has been really busy this spring, so by allowing myself to relax a bit, I think I will enjoy reading again.  I hope you get to enjoy the summer now.

I just read a keeper yesterday and it was nice.

I won't have known either, but they had a whole schedule of things for us to do this week - one day each student brings in a cut flower, another day - a food item like coffee or cookies, another day a card, another day a piece of fruit and the last day something for the classroom.  Today was fruit day, so I sent a mango - figured she might want something besides apples.

I do too, so it will be interesting to see if it affects me more or less that way, however I am pretty far down on the list and likely won't get it for a while.

I am not sure what my silver lining is, I will have to think on that more, but I just ordered Last Lecture from the library.  I was able to order it in audio, everything I read makes me think  it will inspire me and perhaps make me cry.

Last Lecture is a story of a Yale(?)'s professor''s last lecture - shich is a practice offered to professor's before leaving, a chance to lecture on their life experiences.  He is dying in his 40s of cancer (pancreatic - I think) and what I have heard is that it is phenomenal.
