Angel - I think your silver lining is beautiful and that your sons got to know the best parts of their grandmother.  I also think the loving care that they saw being given to her by you and your sister will be a blessing they carry as well.

Cady - I had to think long and hard for my silver linings.  Am hoping it gets easier with practice!  I admit there are times I just want to sit down and cry (and have) AND my family is kind enough to give me some space when it happens.

Sabhdh - I would definitely call sharing something with your brother a silver lining.  AND I have another box of books for you.  I am sorry for taking so long to get it sent.

To any interested, http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/ is the site where you can actually see The Last Lecture being delivered via a YouTube presentation.  There are also excerpts from interviews with this extraordinary person and a little bit about his book.  What I like best is that he doesn't ignore reality, he just adjusts how he (we) can choose to view it.

Keeping Dustin in our hearts and prayers.  And you and his family too because I know that watching and waiting can be the hardest thing to do sometimes.

My thoughts and prayers are with Justin and his family also.  In our family, we loan out our guardian angels during difficult times.  We have all agreed that Justin can borrow ours (that's 5) and send them back when he no longer needs them.  Best wishes for continued "baby steps" and progress back to being a happy, healthy teenager.  Happy B-day, Justin!

Deb, I am glad you enjoyed it.  The mind can be a weird and wonderful place to travel when allowed to run amuk!

Terri - first of all, I love Adrian Paul and lived to get home and watch Highlander when I was in graduate school.  I know what you mean about the kids and animals.  I am always the one who ends up in the kitchen or kid's room playing games, reading books, etc. or in the corner petting the cat. But that's okay, because I tend to find the kids, cats, dogs more interesting than the adults most of the time!

Sabhdh, I have never read any of Brown's work but thought the movie was wonderful.  And I apologize to all the fetishists out there - I didn't mean to sound judgmental Foot in mouth.  Pulling my (Ieft) foot out of my mouth now!

I love when I find just that passage that resonates with where I am in life or a reminder that I need to appreciate what I have.  Enjoy today with your family!

I have to admit I started blogging for the 10% discount but what I gained was so much more.  Participating in the reading challenge last year was my first experience with chatting, blogging, any of that stuff.  While I don't have a specific incident to share, what amazed me most was the wealth of genuinely kind, warm, funny, SMART people I found and have come to treasure.  They are always ready with a quip when you need a laugh, a hankie when you've shed a tear, and a book suggestion when you get in a rut.  Who could ask for better friends than that?!
