Great scene. I have to say, I read the book and I loved JT. You write the sexiest beta heros evah! JT was so sweet and such a stand-up guy.

I love the cover! The flirty elements they added were great. I noted six differences between the two...

Powerful post, Michelle! I love this quote:

"Well, I don’t know how real you can get when, that celebration of Black love of self, family and community illuminated the world with Michelle and Barack Obama stepping on the stage fulfilling the mantra Yes, we can!"

    Now that's keeping it real!

My love of words made me want to be a writer and ultimately led me to become an academic who studies and teaches rhetoric and composition. Your post reminds me that it was that love of words, that love of books from the time I was a kid ordering books from my little Scholastic book club, that paved the way for me to teach and write today. That love of words allows me to still carry on my (we won't say how many years lol) love affair with books as a die-hard reader. Great post, Kelli!

Oh and I love this part:

"My gift is to recognize, to identify, to share, to reveal how writing, how an author’s words, how a book—the work of art that is the book—can be better. How an author’s literary offering can be stronger, more resonant, more luminous and more satisfying. As a book editor and as Senior Editor at Kimani Romance, that is my gift. I believe it is God’s gift to me, my gift to honor God, my gift to the world, to readers and to authors. That is my legacy."

Because I for one am so glad for your gift! Wink

    Great post!

There's no way I can beat you're husband's story and his grandmother's flowers. That's hilarious. You have to put that in a book at some point.

I'm not entering the contest because I have all your books and love them. But here's my non-prom prom night story:

My mother hated the loser, jerk face boyfriend I dated during senior year. And she refused to give me any money towards a prom night with him. (Of course the 17-year-old idiot that I was thought he was the best boyfriend ev--er and love him to distraction...) Anywho, I was working part time at the mall and had saved up for a killer dress. The loser jerk face was supposed to be working at Roy Rogers to cover the rest. Of course since he was a loser, jerk face he ended up not coming through. Long story short, I spent prom night hanging with a friend who was a junior, her boyfriend from another school, and one of his friends. We rode around town in her boyfriend's car and guess who saw us? Loser Jerk Face, of course! When I saw him later that night, I found out that he'd decided I was cheating on him with this other guy and he broke up with me, even though we should have been at the prom that night and then I wouldn't have been in the car with the other cutie... Oh well... All in all it was a pretty interesting non-prom prom night. I eventually got back together with loser, jerk, face, because I was young and stupid and loved him to distraction... And it took me forever to realize that he was a loser jerk face. But I learned... eventually... around about my second year of college... But that's another story...

By the way, I am waiting rather impatiently for THE BOYFRIEND'S BACK. Lover's reunited is one of my all-time favorite romance themes. Maybe I should write one about a loser, jerk, face boyfriend who finally... nah... never mind... I'll just read yours. LOL. Cool
