I was posting in a hurry. Someone asked if they were closed--the pitches and I answered no they were still open.

The more to come for right now was referring to the dates the pitches have to be in and the format of each pitch--as in blurbs, loglines or a synopsis.

Sorry, ladies. Didn't mean to make it sound more than it is.

My ex lives in NC. I'm dreading hurricane season too, because I always worry about all of you in the path.

I lost my sense of humor when I couldn't get online for the rest of the day yesterday and the majority of the day today, so I apologize for not personally responding to everyone of you.

Warmth is on the way and it's all because I asked her nicely. LOL

Rae, who is waiting for the deep freeze now for being a smart butt.

So sorry I didn't get in here sooner. I had technical issues with my ISP. FINALLY after the last two hour conversation with "David" the new modem is installed and I can get onto the internet on my laptop. I'm typing this during commercials--addicted to Grey's Anatomy. Wink

    HockeyJock,
It sounds like you came from a great foundation, even though you weren't handed all of the luxury items or even electronic things that our children have today. My children aren't allowed to play their games all the time. They have allotted hours to play their games and then every night, they go to bed, they read for a half hour and then it's lights out. Reading is very important to me and it was very important to me as a child and even now. Reading is my escape from the everyday mundane. I can be anyone through the characters and I can live in any country or world for that matter. Thanks for commenting, I love learning more about people!

    Takiko,
Good question and one I'm going to have to get back to you on as Lorie coordinates the book challenge. I promise to get you an answer asap.

Kristen, I have three kids and there are books that I can read by heart--lol. But yes, it is so gratifying when a child asks about a word because it shows that by reading to them we as parents ARE teaching them something.  And awe, about Bailey snuggling up to you.

I had a hard time sleeping last night, laid down and this blog post came to me--at 3 am!

I'm rather tired today, but I can say that MN didn't check her memo's first thing this morning because it was actually snowing here this morning--flurries mind you--but snow none the less. I'm not a morning person to begin with, but when it's April 30th and I see snow, it doesn't make me a happy camper.

Now, the sun is out, so perhaps MN did see my Memo to her and no petitions will be necessary. However, Holly, I am greedy and I want 70s and 80s. Yesterday. Tongue out

Cady, I'm glad I brought some humor to your morning. The Year Without A Santa Claus is in a tie with A Christmas Story for first place as far as my favorite Holiday movies. My kids roll their eyes at me as I sing with Heat and Snow Miser and the fact that I can quote lines and still giggle over the Red Ryder BB guns.

Welcome Nett. Glad you peeked in and are ready to go to bat. Wink

As far as a concrete date, nothing has been set in stone yet. So, let's just make ourselves or yourselves plan to have your manuscripts done by July 1st. That way, it still gives you a goal and plenty of time to write like mad over the next 2 months. Heck, there are books in a month, why not two? Plus, the word counts for both aren't stupendous. You can do this, I know you can!

As far as personal writing time, I'm learning to do it while I can, when I can. I drive down to the bus stop, turn up the radio, tune out the rest of the mom's and dad's and write in my car for the fifteen minutes or so before the bus comes. I've started a routine in which I come home from the bus stop in the morning, suck down my coffee, do rounds here on the boards and then force myself to dig in and write. And I try to write most of the day while the kids are in school. On the odd days they're home, I have notepads everywhere. Best place to write? In the bathroom with the door shut. They think you're doing something else. Tongue out

I guess the point I'm trying to make is ask yourself how badly do you want this? Because when you're an author, the publisher expects you to produce more than one book. There are ways to get around kids and interuptions, you just have to rethink and retrain yourself. What's the saying, No pain, no gain? or how about... Git R Done!

Frenchie, the second link is eHQ's new Facebook. You might have to be a member, but they are essentially the same pictures on mine. You haven't missed anything...yet. I don't know how Lorie is going to load hers.
