LOL on the last post...I'm envisioning this marketing ploy...I can see it now...on the top right corner of a book, "The absolute worst book you'll ever read."
I wonder what readers would do if that were a NYT endorsement or something on a book? LOL! Okay obviously I'm too easily amused. But it would be an interesting marketing experiment....or a fun thing to do with a hidden Candid Camera aimed at bookstore browsers or something. Anyone remember that show?
I forgot to mention earlier that I applaud everyone for taking part in the 100,000 book challenge. This is so great! And, Sadhbh...if you think you're behind on blogging...don't feel bad...I (blush!) haven't even managed to start the blog for the books I've read this year yet. LOL!
I think I'm still trying to catch up from November. LOL!
Hugs,
Cheryl

Hi Sadhbh,
Someone gave me a heads' up about this thread because they were concerned that I'd be offended or get my feelings hurt once I saw it.
Just want to assure you that I am not in the least bit offended. And my feelings aren't hurt in any way. I appreciate honest assessments and everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.
I do doubt though that you will like Manny and Celia's story any better because, while I don't set out to prosthelitize, I do always give my characters a faith struggle to have to work through because that's what the core Steeple Hill readership prefers.
I am one of those people who converse with God about every little thing. He's my very best friend and so naturally the way I relate to God is going to be reflected in my characters' relationships with God. I hate for you to spend money on a book that you probably won't like, so it will not offend me at all if you choose not to buy any more of my books. Spend your hard earned cash on what you like. Don't try to force it. LOL!
Interestingly, I really loathe agenda-driven fiction and definitely do not like to be preached at. LOL! Therefore I strive very hard not to set out to preach in the books.
This was a lively discussion and it's nice to be able to participate in a community where we all do have different tastes yet enough care and respect for one another that we can express our honest views without getting cyber flogged. LOL!
I was a longtime community member before I was an author and this community is one of the biggest reasons I was able to realize my dream of writing for Steeple Hill. yet I still see myself more as a community member first and foremost.
Just want to express kudos to everyone for "playing nice" even when we disagree in our reading tastes. This community bond is sort of like a family and families stick together even if they don't always agree.
So please don't feel stifled in your opinion just because I've dropped by. Not trying to get anything stirred up again, and by all means I'm sort of hoping this blows over and dies quickly so we can move on to another more interesting topic. I never like to be the center of attention, whether that's good or bad. LOL!
Hugs and warmest regards,
Cheryl

Hey there...just wanted to drop back by and tell you THANK YOU for blogging about A Soldier's Promise.
I received word this week that, thanks partly to you, it now holds the honor of being among the Top-Ten-Most-Blogged-About-Books on Eharlequin! Came in at number four I think.
Anyway, thanks SO much for taking time list the book!

Anita Mae....CONGRATS on your wins!
I loved your entry and hope you keep subbing. It was so hard to pick a winner in Feb because so many of the stories (including yours!) were memorable and a delight for me to read.
Best of luck in the Genesis! I hope you get great feedback. It's a wonderful contest which is garnering more and more acclaim in the industry.
I hope to see your name among the finalists!

Donna, I saw your soldier book and drooled over it. LOL! Must read it soon.
Anita Mae...I'm like you. If I know a book is part of a series, I like to wait and read them all at once.
Like Donna's series, though Wings of Refuge is a series...each story stands alone and completes itself. The only two things really tying the Wings of Refuge series together is the setting is in a small town called Refuge, and also each story features one airman from a seven-man USAF Pararescue team.
I hope you enjoy them.
Dee's books are great. She's one of my favorite authors.

Thanks for featuring Joan. I was delighted the first time I met her at an ACFW conference when she informed me that she'd actually edited a book about squirrels.
Right then, I knew I had to love her. LOL!
She is a remarkable person and I love what she, and the other editors have done for Steeple Hill and especially the fact that they're so open to new authors, yet still take great care of their already-established ones.

Dream...I had a blast visiting you in Denver...and it's so true how people I've met on these boards have become close like soul sisters. Some of my closest friends "live" here...You, my friend...are a TREMENDOUS gift to me.
Very, very, very thankful for the eHarlequin community.
I got more than I ever bargained for the moment I signed up. :-)
