I agree...take them all.  What if there's not a bookstore handy?  I'm going away for 4 days, and taking 70 something books...but that's because they're on my Kindle.  I wasn't really planning on taking a print book, but I won't get it finished before I go...so that's going with me too.

I don't know where you live, but did you know that there are several of us who live in the DFW area.  We get together on a fairly regular basis.  Penn coordinates us.  If you're intersted you might post on her blog, or see if the email option works.

Glad you had a good trip.

Lots of us like old TV.  I wonder if years and years from now the new shows will get us much replay and following as what we have come to love.

I didn't know that Carol Burnett was available on DVD.  I'm going to have to check that out!

After you said you didn't like it, I found out another friend didn't like it either!  I guess that I just have so many friends who did that I didn't ever think that there were people who didn't really like I Love Lucy.

I like the thread What Are You Reading Now because in a quick space of time I'm able to see what people are reading.  A lot of those people also do blog their books, and will say for a better review check my blog...however that thread allows me "one click" access to see what is being read.  On that thread we also tend to discuss non book topics in quick snippets...the sort of thing I think we were better able to do last year than we are this year.

Therefore....I would surmise that people who are participating in a forum/thread...whatever and not blogging are having their needs met quite well wherever they're visiting, and don't see the need to come here and perhaps repeat themselves?  I'm not sure...how to phase what I'm thinking...so that might be wrong.

Again, I also think that if when we suggest people blog their books we don't push the need for numbers, but rather the need to grow our community, and thus perhaps as Sadhbh said...our ability to discover a great new author, or maybe an online friend we might get more people blogging.

Now if no one minds I'm going to post this word for word as a blog on my blog...so that people can see that I do agree we want to grow...not primarily to increase our number(albeit that is a nice effect) but to increase our spirit of community, and what brought us all here in the first place our love of reading.

I'm seriously addicted to this show.  I watch it just about every chance I get.  I can't imagine not liking it!  Guess that's why there are so many old tv shows...just like books.  We all have our favorites.

When my husband and I were dating in college.  We would watch the 10:00 news followed by Mash, and then he would go off to a late night study session, and I would head to bed.  So MASH holds very special memories.

I have both I Love Lucy and Mash on DVD and complete series in case anyone was interested.

I appreciate all the comments.  There are a lot of things about the new site that I like, and a lot about the new site that I don't like.

I do think the threads that were mentioned like What Are You Reading Now help to add to the sense of community.  However, when I first joined eharlequin, the various threads were in my opinion easier to find, but I suppose it all goes to what we get familiar with, and the phase can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Yes, by adding people to my friends list I can find them, and see what they're reading, but it takes a bit more effort and a few more clicks...but it is doable, and I know several people have offered suggestions as to how they do it, but again can you teach an old dog new tricks?

What I intended with my post was to say, yes I agree we need some more people to post, but it seems to be becoming secondary to the book reviews, and oh...see what I think today type of posts.  It also focuses a lot on the number and like I said...some people can only read one book a month, and when you say well if everyone read X number of books between now and the end we'd make the goal....I think it makes the person who will only read that one book a month think oh no one cares about me, so why bother, and that one book a month might be the 6 or so books that make the difference in accomplishing the goal.

Ok...i'll grant that, but unfortunately the written word doesn't not allow for the inflections that the verbal word does.  When you read you infer things, and I will admit that maybe I should say that I inferred you meant..... rather than saying you claim....

I would also think that at some time you have stated about your career and therefore that leads one to think of education needed to have had that type of career....but as I'm not going back over 2 years of postings to prove something one way or the other I will apologize....but I do have the right to my opinion, and in my opinion your response to FF was rude, and deserving of an apology.  In my opinion you like to degrade women, and the romance world in general.  I have inferred you read romance so as to write a romance, and if that be the case best of wishes to you, and may it be a best seller, but it won't be residing in my TBR.

That it doesn't come off as you agreeing with her.  it comes off as mean and rude, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I'm glad you like her and agree with her, because as I read these comments it doesn't appear to be the case to me, but then again I guess even though I am college educated, I can't be expected to reach your high exacting standards.

Now you're attacking people for not agreeing with you, and doing it in a rather strong degrading manner.  I think you owe FF just a public an apology as you gave her a verbal beating.

Not everyone in the world is as highly educated as you report yourself to be, nor do they have the command of language, that you fancy yourself to have, and lastly they may not have the level of comprehension that you claim to have...therefore having books written in more simplistic langugage, whether it appeals to your perception of "quality literature" and " intelligence on the author's part" is vital to the author's ability to become a bestseller, because without having mass appeal they will never be a bestselling author.

I have other things I'd love to say, but I'll probably be warned about what I've arleady said, so for the moment I'll shush.
